Well, I finally hit the wall. I got all the dead drops and got 30 more blast shards on my own, up to the magical 297. I haven't used any maps or the shard power, but I'm about to give in, I absolutely cannot find the last 8.
Looks like I'll be spending a few hours next week on side missions. I guess I should do them anyway. Maybe I'll find them as I do those. |

I am already getting sick of the combat in this game and I'm still on the first island. Too many rockets, too many grenades, and too many stupid "sub-requirements" on missions. Failing a mission because you have to do something(or not do something as the case may be) that isn't in the mission description.
I don't think I've ever been more disappointed in a sequel. I loved InFAMOUS. I'll probably try to keep at it for story...but color me disappointed. |

I'm about done with my first playthrough. I got all the Blast Shards and took over both Islands. I'm missing like 5 Dead Drops though, so I'm using a map. I just need to beat the game and start my Good playthrough!

Finally found a few minutes to fire up inFamous 2.
Quick impressions: (1) This game is noticeably harder than inFamous 1. Not unfairly so, but it's pretty unforgiving of bad tactical decisions even on Medium. (2) Is it my imagination, or is Cole a little "floatier" than before? It feels like you don't fall as quickly from normal jumps (though the basic static thrusters seem less capable than in the first game, as you gradually lose your battle with gravity over time - I assume they get better later?). (3) Melee is a more viable option, but the explosive enemies mean you really have to be careful about it, and of course you can still get shot to pieces in melee. (4) I like the fact that firing basic lightning blasts costs a (small) amount of energy. Makes you a lot less willing to just blast away with grenades and other powers, and makes earning extra power cores more meaningful. (5) Hate the new voice actor for Cole. The southern drawl may be some sort of attempt by Sucker Punch to make him "fit in" to New Marais a bit more, but it feels horrendously out of place for those of us who liked the voiceovers from the first game. Only a few chapters in (just met Nix), so still a lot to get through, but overall liking the game (and certainly liking the fact that Blast Shards aren't so annoying). |

I actually prefer the "New" Cole's voice. It seemed out of place at first but I liked him much better than than the Cole in the first game.
After replaying the game I noticed the Static Thrusters seemed almost useless. You do get improved ones later on in the game. |
