There are many, MANY Bond films without Blofeld that I would not call "Bond in name only".
It's fine to want to see them bring back a character (even though I'm not in favor of it) but I think you're way overstating Blofeld's importance in the Bond series. e: Plus, I'm worried this would open the floodgates to them just straight up remaking the earlier flicks or bringing back all sorts of old characters and villains. Going backward, not forward. Last edited by Infernal King; 11-24-2014 at 08:31 PM. |

Yes the guy who killed Bonds wife and was the big bad in 5/6 movies is not that important to the series.

Honestly, the only Blofelds I could stand in the entire series were the unseen one in From Russia With Love and Telly Savalas' version in OHMSS. |

Doesn't look like Arnold is coming back. He said in a recent interview that Thomas Newman will be back. For me, I'm glad - wasn't a fan of Arnold, and I really like what Newman did for Skyfall.

I could've done without the possible spoiler, but

All the more reason to in Blofeld's case due to the fact Broccoli and Saltzman botched continuity by trying to ignore On Her Majesty's Secret Service and giving us the villain's sh**ty portrayal in Diamonds Are Forever. |

http://collider.com/bond-24-shooting...lm-twin-peaks/ I sincerely hope Hoyte Van Hoytema makes use of the IMAX cameras for Bond 24. His work on Interstellar was amazing. ![]() |

e: Considering how goofy and incompetent the QUANTUM organization ended up being, I don't have much confidence that the writers/producers will be able to make a resurrected SPECTRE look any better. |

If they go the Blofeld route I'd like to see him emerge as the leader of Quantum after a hostile takeover once they were picking up the shambles following QoS. That'd be a real cool introduction.
Quantum's head emerges after their defeat... It's Ernst Stavro Blofeld. |

Agreed. I know audiences didn't like Quantum but I enjoyed how it felt like a new version of SPECTRE. I really don't think that Quantum is that far off reality. It's not outside the realm of possibilities that you have a small group of superpowerful shaping society to fit their vision. I think it's great to bring back Blofeld. |

Well that's that ruined, they kept it good for a few movies but now we're into remake not reboot territory.

Bond: You guys again? Didn't I already take pictures of all the members and interrogated one of your agents, learning everything I needed to know about your organization? Here, let me just do that again. *tortures next Blofeld flunky, finds out where Blofeld lives, punches him in the face* Mr. White reads about Blofeld's arrest in the newspaper, sighs and says "Tosca's not for everyone." |

I'm still unclear as to why most of the fan base thinks that this is a "different" Bond. Why can't everyone grasp the concept that Craig's Bond is the same Bond, but very early in the timeline. Fans are used to seeing a very put together suave, dapper, sophisticated bond, this is where he started. James Bond was not always that man! Danielle Craig's Bond is who James Bond was before he became the man that has been portrayed in the series since it's inception. These are the events in his life that turned him in to the character we all have come to know. And that character, if you pay attention is very flawed as a person. Among the things people describe the "real" James Bond as (suave, sophisticated etc...) the classic James Bond character is also emotionally closed off, avoids commitment and personal conflict, is distant and detached from reality. He is self centered and self absorbed to say the least. The closest thing he has to a relationship is Moneypenny... If you put Daniel Craig's Bond into context with who James Bond becomes then the transformation of the man himself makes sense. It's not the story of Two Bond's, it's the story of how the events of a man's life changed him forever and why he always seems to be chasing personal ghosts in his life. |

Using old characters is not moving into remake territory...They've been using characters from all the movies since Casino Royale, and the last three movies were anything but remakes.

The main reason why it looked so good was because of Roger Deakins, not the camera. Digital movies (with the Alexa or Sony F65 at least) can look good, but I've yet to see something that wouldn't look as good if not better on film.
