Hey all, Im looking to buy some Energy speakers for my home theatre system and needed a little advice/help.
Well first of all let me say that Iam going to be running my setup with a pioneer VSX-1019AH receiver. I am going to be watching movies, gaming and the occasional listening to music. I do not want anything to big, would like to stay as small as possible with the best sound of course. Well this is what I had in mind Fronts- c100 center- c-c50 ( was considering c-c100 but was wondering if a 50 will do considering my fronts are c100) surrounds- c50 I have also been searching the internet for the c100 and have noticed that they are sold out. any suggestions/advice or reccomendations would be appreciated. |

+1 actually Energy really made a good job at matching the sound throughout the whole series Some people here on this forum have a C-C50 with C-500 and they find it's achieving the task pretty well with great transition worse case scenario they give a +2 db to their center but with c-100 it's a go.

Sweet, good find. I have been searching ebay all weekend for c100's, they must have just put them up for sale in the last couple of hours. Last edited by RB951; 12-27-2009 at 11:53 PM. |

I have c-100s for surrounds and I have disconnected them and hooked them up as fronts. I was watching Empire Strikes Back and I can say that while they didnt have the low end of the C-300 the bass was pretty good, detail in the mid-range and highs were excellent. I think for a smaller room and for a smaller setup you will be happy with what you get. If you could get C-200s they are still bookshelf speakers but they will give you better overall performance. Basically they are the C-300s just in a smaller cabinet. They don't have the same frequency response, but its better then the C-100s and I hear they are about as good as the C-300s once you set the receivers crossover you probably wouldn't notice a difference between the speakers. (maybe) 2-channel music may be a different story though.

I thought I was blown away with my C100's as my fronts until I hooked up my new C200's the other day. I wonder how well it would sound if I upgraded to the C300's.
![]() Anyway, when I had the C100's it was very good and you should be happy with your C-C50 setup. Right now I'm just waiting to get more speaker wire from monoprice.com so I can set my C100's to the rear. ![]() |

MACRUZ in this case you could go 7.1 C-300 as Fronts C-200 as Surrounds and C-100 as back Surrounds unless you get rid of em. As you said indeed C-200 produce more bass and are noticeably more powerful, I moved up from C-100 to C-200 to C-500 and hell yeah I'm in heaven but for ht RB951 C-100 will do a great job with X-over set to 80hz. I use a C-50 as my back surround in 6.1 setup and I can say that it is an excellent surround speaker. I just asked my wife and she says its a good speaker and she is surprised by its little size the bass it gives you. We are watching Band of Brothers right now and You can hear the bullets shizzing by and pounding the dirt. AWESOME!

No problem as Callas said they are all meant to go together Energy really did their homework on that one and at 80Hz X-Over they will perform really well. Callas has one as his Back surround in a 6.1 setup and holds up really well with the rest of the setup. Quote from Energy "C-50 makes a big audio statement—with a small presence. Hear movies, games and music like never before from a small speaker…and they’re sound matched to all of the other C Series speakers, allowing you mix and match to fit your needs. The black ash finish adds a cool touch that makes them an even bigger value. " Last edited by BigAl87; 12-28-2009 at 03:02 AM. |
