it still sounds like that unfortunately, it's most likely based off of 7.1 track from the Lionsgate 4K just with the Atmos encode this time around

Yeah. The dialogue is still a bit low and buried in the mix unfortunately. I didn't get any tinnyness from the dialogue but I wouldn't call it full either. Just low compared to everything else.

Even then, the Atmos mix is the best I've ever heard Halloween sound. Very atmospheric and engaging.

I watched the ATMOS presentation a couple of nights ago and, for the most part, found the dialogue to be at appropriate levels compared to the rest of the track. Unlike many, who like me, have seen this movie hundreds of times, I do not profess to remember every line of dialogue and the pitch it had on the original 35mm print or on a specific special edition VHS copy of the live TV broadcast.

On the ATMOS track, there were definitely sound elements that showed their age. Loomis talking in the car on a stormy night comes to mind. But for a few such incidents, Pleasance's earnest, melodramatic entreaties came through naturally at the level I set my amp to without any need to adjust throughout the presentation. Adults playing teenagers sounded naturally annoying and the scream queen was believable.

For a reference, I recently recalibrated my Denon 4500 7.4.4 Paradigm setup with the MultiEQ app after changing the dustcovers on my side surrounds. I recalibrate any time I make even the most minor change. I use the app to eliminate the mild mid range compensation that Paradigm builds into it's crossovers. I'm no sound engineer, but I double check the amp and app's findings with an SPL meter. The Denon's calibration (helped by the app) is the most accurate amp I've ever owned. My speakers are all placed within the DOLBY specified ranges.

I juice nothing except for some minor alterations to the bass levels in combining the output of 4 subs with the tactile transducers I've affixed to my chairs in order to provide a visceral warmth without boominess. The classic Carpenter Halloween score sounded better here than it ever has to my ears, chest and the little hairs on the back of my neck.

Somewhat of an aside, but I ordered all 5 4K's (and Elvira's Haunted Hills) to Ireland from Amazon and they all turned up today about a week earlier than the estimate. They all turned up in a paper mailer about as thin as one of Michael's blades. Three of them got some scuffs on them and discs were loose and a lil scuffed but played fine. Got onto the live chat to even get a refund of the shipping or something but before I even got into describing the condition of the blu's, the rep offered me a refund on all of them without returning them? I am SHOCKED (but happy.)

Also all 4K's were crappy eco cases except 78 incase anyone was wondering.

Be lucky you got them shipped...to Ireland of all places...before Shout has even shipped out their goddamn pre-orders.

Seriously, Shout, ship my fooking order already. I'd cancel and buy elsewhere, but everywhere is OOS!

Shout emailed back and said they won't replace my III 4k disk with scratches because I bought it from Walmart. Walmart won't refund or exchange it because it's opened. Shout can never do a massive release correct.

(Reefer Cough) Atmos is nice and all but did the colorists match the Red Paint Code with The GM Red Paint Code on Annie's 1977 Monte Carlo? It's way too hot/bright/saturated on the new Scream. The Lionsgate 4K has a more accurate GM Red Paint Code match! Right, when Sam Loomis meets up with Sheriff Bracket it looks like a 76 Light Green Ford Pinto drives past too. There are your Red and Green colors now just find a blue. R, G, B = W. There's a White Dodge in front of them when they stop by the store that is robbed. That would let you know how close the white is also. Also note when the sun lights cut through in the car ride it now bleeds an all-red color, not orange/gold sun color. But hey what would I know people on this site try calling out bags of fake leaf colors LOL. Fooled 80-90% of you I see just by looking at the poll. Smooth one guys. Sunlight through car windows is RED now LOL! Jack Nicholson - CHECK it OUTTTTTT! I'm gonna eat some enchiladas brb.

That's odd. Walmart has replaced open movies and games for me in the past. They always exchange in my experience. I just go in and show them the scratch and its either a new one or a gift card.

Otherwise, yeah, Shout sucks.

I don't think so, but I don't have the disc to hand. I've never seen that LaserDisc cover until now but it's just a frame grab with the mask seemingly pasted on from a different photo. It's not a behind the scenes photo like the others I remember on that disc, which were shot by Kim Gottlieb-Walker.

It might be different for the States than it is in Canada. Walmart Canada discontinued a bunch of its policies including price matching.
