You could choose to repurchase on disc only those titles that are either on sale or just those titles that you especially love. Going forward I would recommend buying subsequent new additions on disc. I would replace those digital only titles on a case by basis over time based on both price and level of personal interest.

It is no surprise that I think digital only purchases are a poor choice and for a lot of reasons. Clearly, not everyone agrees with me. Had I made such poor choices, I would rather learn from my mistakes and not just continue to repeat them. It is never too late to embrace the best in quality, and in control of content, that only physical media offers.

It is wonderful that you have never had a disc fail. Of the very few DVDs that have failed on me, most of them were those accursed "flipper" discs found early on into the format. These "flipper" discs, with their content recorded on two sides of a single disc, do have a higher failure rate and I think their manufacture was discontinued a long time ago.

The couple of blu-rays that have failed to play for me were likely damaged in shipment and all were replaced at no cost.

Pioneer replaced most of my defective disc. I did have a few disc that warped out of tolerance. I procured two pieces of 12 x 12 x 1/2 inch plate glass (special order). Placed warped disc between the glass pieces then placed in oven on very low heat and heated till disc was warm. Removed and let sit for several days. This would usually remove the warp.

No CD failures, only a couple of DVD failures and only one BD failure. Never had any physical media stop and buffer, look worse than a bad VHS tape, most have little to no banding, etc. .

I had only one defective disc from 900. Twilight Zone series 2, one of the discs skipped and wouldn’t play. It ended up being a deep scratch and I got a refund.

With Kaleidescape you are supposed to be able to do that but it is not cheap. Here again Kaleidescape had to close its doors for a short while. If it happens again will they find even more money to back them?

Now we’re just splitting hairs. Fear of loss is definitely a motivating factor in this thread lately. It just happens to be on pro disc side. So how exactly has he made a false statement

All media is going to be 5 minute mobile-only videos.
Interactive video will wipe out everything else.
Everything is going to be subscription only and all purchase options will disappear.
Large TVs will stop being sold.
SD will become the only option.

Fear Mongering from the Anti-Physical Side:
Discs have high-failure rates.
Fires and floods will wipe out your collection.
Physical media sales are down 46% this year.
Stores will stop selling physical media in a matter of months.
All physical media prices will skyrocket.
Nobody buys physical media.
Physical media buyers will be left behind.
