It's crazy how much the high school game has changed since I was in there in the 90's in Florida. Back then it was a rushing dominated game. There was very little in the way of passing game. Nowadays there are kids throwing for 250+ yards and several TD's every week. I suppose it's the trickle down effect from the NFL and NCAA style of football. We're seeing west coast style offense in high school.

Here's the box score from that Apopka QB in last year's state title game. Apopka won 53-50. He was 13-21 passing for 254 yards and 2 TD's with another 125 yards rushing for a TD.

Apopka has produced some very talented players over the years. Warren Sapp, Brandon Meriweather, Sammie Smith, etc.

No they don't. So far Apopka has been disappointing. They've started off 0-2, losing badly to Vero Beach and Byrnes, SC. The real big game in Florida, and nationally for that matter is on 9/6 when Booker T. Washington (Miami) plays Central (Miami). Most national high school polls have those two ranked in the top-5.

Anyone looking to join another league PM me or follow the link in my sig. I'm actually run 2 blu-ray.com "members only" leagues this year. The plan was 1, but it filled rather fast and were currently filling league 2. The draft for "league 2" will be held saturday night at 8est ( I know) or possibly later if needbe.Both leagues will be ESPN based and consist of a $10 Amazon gift card buy in. Winner takes 80%, second place gets their $10 back so free entry essentially. Then the team with the highest regular season points scored takes the other $10, that could possible go to 1st or second place to add to their winnings. Both leagues are PPR, and have yardage incentives. No IDP. And only 1 starting QB. Like I said league 1 is full and I'm hoping for 10-12 for league 2, but will settle for 8 if we can't fill past that.

It's unconfirmed at this point, but there are reports that Johnny Manziel will be suspended for the first half of Saturday's game against Rice. A suspension that short would mean the NCAA believes (or can only prove) Manziel committed a secondary violation but did not receive money for his autograph.

Edit: ESPN and CBS Sports are confirming the first half suspension.

Dez Bryant -- suspended for a whole season for hanging out with Deion Sanders.

Cam Newton -- didn't miss a single game, despite his pops shopping him around.

NCAA = Not Consistent At All. I'm not really surprised by this.

Which is why I am in a cold sweat whenever I think about how they have yet to rule on the Miami investigation. I can see them being satisfied with how we have been so proactive with our self imposed bowl bans, and I can just as easily see them hammering us to Kingdom Come. The NCAA is impossible to predict from case to case.

I think you get like 5 years probation, a few scholarships and at worst case miss another year of bowl eligibility. But sitting out the last 2 (especially when 1 included a shot at the ACC Title and BCS bowl) certainly helps.

It was actually Texas A&M that suspended him for a half. They declared him ineligible and submitted a half-game suspension to the NCAA as his punishment, which the NCAA accepted.

They didn't have to accept. They could have said "No, no punishment".

This just makes them look like a joke.

I know they always look like a joke, but why should they help that image out?

The Aggies could start their 3rd quarterback and beat Rice. This 'half game suspension' is beyond ridiculous.
