I watched ROTS about 5 months ago and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It is my fav of the PT, the colours were vibrant.

I suppose the critique I would have had back in the day was the excess of content, every new chapter shot was palatial, surrounded by 80,000 vehicles. it was non stop bombardment and wonder turned to fatigue. strike a balance there and we will see .

I hope they center the story around Jar Jar Brinks.

I have always wanted to see this! A galaxy full of soldiers and ships would not just disappear and the empire, agreed upon by galactic senate, would not simply dissolve.

Just like getting rid of Osama, the fight still continues.

Well most the references were in the EU because the Original Trilogy never dealt with them and the prequels were before they were phased out. However you hear them in different voices in OT and in Star Wars Rebels you see the academy that would train officers and stormtroopers.

It was also talked about outside of films/lit that without the original genetic material of Jango the clones had to be cloned from clones and that was a decaying situation.

That was Jar Jar in the black hood with the cross lightsaber. Only he would be dumb enough to build that thing.

1. Loved the trailer
2. It's a teaser trailer. Look up the definition of teaser.
3. Some folks will never be happy. I knew a few folks would be complaining about it before it was released.

Yeah, that shot of the Falcon was cool but why the roll? What is up with that ball droid? Just in that trailer there were a lot of "look what we can do with cgi" shots - will the movie be like that? Like I said, wait and see but the trailer really didn't do anything to impress me.
As you say. None of us know yet as the film is still over a year away. No matter what I plan to enjoy it. I have no real trepidations or doubts because I know I'll find something to enjoy in it regardless. Lucas was always trying to break new ground. That was his thing. Not everyone agrees with him, but I enjoyed what he did, and still do. Just give it the year. If you don't like what you see out the next batch of trailers to come out (as we know there will be) then okay. If you do, problem solved. I'm not worried either way. I don't hate CG even if it is done just for the heck of it. Some of the coolest stuff I've ever seen in movies was done just for the heck of it by filmmakers who wanted to push the limits of what technology can allow, Lucas and Spielberg stand out here. I'm sorry it didn't impress you, but there is nothing I can do to change that fact, nor should I try. I'm happy with it. It is just a teaser to wet the appetite for seeing Star Wars back on the big screen again. Mission accomplished for me. 12/15/2015 can't get here fast enough.

Anyone posted this analysis yet from /film? http://www.slashfilm.com/star-wars-t...wakens-photos/

The point about the Stormtroopers is a good one, it goes by so quickly in the film you wouldn't know but they're all different heights. No more clones for you!

I have no problem with them throwing in cool shots because you need that iconic image especially in a movie like this, it was just odd them showing images that are so cgi in the trailer after talking about how he was going to use a more traditional style. I don't hate cgi either - I think people are making too much of him going back to practical effects as in the end both are tools and it is how you use them that count. But again, it all needs to be done properly. People were complaining about Lucas doing the cgi eye-candy shots in the prequels because they served no purpose, people need to be willing to do the same here if it happens. Like I said, didn't impress me but few trailers do today. Will give it one plus - minimnal lens flare

Give it time, it may yet be there. I never was bothered by that myself. If it hadn't been for people on the internet complaining about how ubiquitous they were in Trek and to a lesser degree Super 8 I never would have really paid attention to them. They were fine with me. JJ strikes me as a guy who is going to hold the very best for last. What say you? It just seems to me he's not going to tip his hand on a play this big over a year out.

No.

A lot of sets in the PT were either actual sets or miniatures. Not all CG.

Abrams does the same thing: a lot of his sets are partial sets with CG and miniature set extensions. There's a lot of practical stuff in his films, but a TON of CG, most of it invisible. Look at the VFX and production design of the last 2 STAR TREK films.

I think it's telling about how so 'empty' that argument and those who complain about it is. People (a vocal minority, in my opinion) wanted to criticize the prequels (and/or Lucas) for only using CGI (an ignorant claim, as many people ended up proving through BtS photos) and wanted this new trilogy to return to the techniques that were never gone to begin with. Lucasfilm, trying to appeal to that same vocal minority (since the silent majority doesn't even care about what tools they use and are fine either way), made an idiotic campaign by showing how they were doing the 'real' deal (even though everyone with two brain cells knew that CGI would be heavily present later on due to the very nature of the movie).

I also hate people looking for any kinds of flaws in the CG shots when the movie is 12 months from completion. Whatever is in the trailer is either TEMP or WIP shots.

CGI is not like models, where model photography is expensive and pretty much done after shooting and compositing. CG is massaged and worked on until the minute ILM has to deliver their final renders. It's like complaining how a fetus still in the womb doesn't look like a full baby.

Not trying to fight I just don't know where you are getting this info.
Padme's apartment? I know it was CG outside, but the room itself was built. Anything the actors had to physically handle had to be practical. Some of the larger sets, like the inside great hall of the Jedi temple, were CG I'm sure, but a good many of the smaller sets were still practical I'm also sure.
