Texas A&M's backup QB did just fine in the 1st half. Their problem is they aren't playing any defense against Rice.

A&M leads 28-21 at halftime. Rice had over 300 yards of offense in the first half.

They are going to get steamrolled by the Tide if they play that way. But then again giving Saban an extra week to prepare is almost unfair.

Manziel needs to just stop jawing at defenders. He's going to hurt his team in SEC play if he can't keep his stupidity under control.

He got a 15 yard penalty by jawing at Rice defenders. 15 yard penalties will hurt you in SEC play.

And it's not just that play. He was allowing himself to be drawn into arguments with Rice defenders the entire second half.

What's so confusing about that?

Yeah, teams are really going to try and get into his head now. He's shown it can be done.

Virginia Tech's Defense looks really good so far. Too bad for them Alabama has scored on both defense and special teams.

Since they are only one deep I'd bet they get tired in the second half and 'bama picks up offense, but it's been an interesting game so far.

And might I add, hooray! Football! Oh how I've missed it.

Yeah that Pick-6 really hurt.

I'm surprised at how aggressive their defense has been, but It would shock me as well if it continues in the 2nd half.

EDIT: I leave the room for 2 minutes to get some popcorn and Christion Jones returns a Kickoff.

And Saban will exploit that to the fullest. Just look at Alabama today. They had only 97 yards of offense in the first half but they're still rolling Va Tech 28-10. Their special teams is working the Hokies big time.

These 1-AA schools are putting up a fight opening weekend. North Dakota St. beat Kansas St. and Towson beat UConn. William & Mary very nearly beat West Virginia and Southern Illinois nearly beat Illinois. Eastern Washington is leading Oregon St. 26-17 in the 2nd quarter at the moment.

It looks like Bama is missing those two first round draft picks and Barrett Jones. I can't remember last time they looked like this on O.

Ya, but their defense looks as good as ever. Despite all their issues offensively they're crushing Va-Tech 35-10
