Haven't watched this for a few years, so this was a fun ride to take again.

I forgot how strong the 3D was (or my old rig wasn't nearly as efficient for 3D).

This 3D was pretty strong, the first Mech fight gave me a quick bout of eye strain.

1.85 PQ was generally really detailed and color was phenomenal.

The other thing that jumped out at me was the quality of the effects shots.

These fight were so much more detailed and better animated than Kong: SI.

This movie puts many modern movies to shame.
The first mech fight has an issue where the images are vertically misaligned. To see this go to a moment near the start when there is text on the screen to see the text clearly at different vertical levels. I brought this up when the blu-ray was first released, but I was simply told by the reviewers at avs among other places that I didn't have a clue and that clearly 3d wasn't for me.

Then again I shouldn't be surprised, these where the same kind of reviewers that gave the 3d of Hugo bad scores as there displays couldn't resolve the 3d properly resulting in crosstalk. Which had them give it a bad score (given the source a bad score for a separate piece of hardware's limitations).

Watched UP 3D about 4 times over the past 2 weeks. Took me awhile to finish
The movie was great, although sad at times and without clear purpose for blue-mood scenes.
3D was well done, utilizing a varity of creative parallax shifts, albeit without few strong pop-outs. I kept shifting seating positions, distance to screen and display medium. This could be why I enjoyed stereo of the film so much. Definitely worth re-watching.

I agree. Every time I watch it I am touched at just how poignant this movie truly is. Not the typical animated story line.

Always heard mixed things about the movie and of Matt Damon's accent, but happy to say I liked the movie but agree on the accent. This was a typical summer blockbuster action movie, just getting released at the wrong time. Sure the plot may be a bit thin, CGI a little weak and acting so-so at times, but that's a typical popcorn action movie. The overall picture quality is stunning with the 3D delivering some fun moments here and there, with nice draw distance too. The Atmos track was good but I have heard better with other films. So overall I say it's was worth importing (if you're a fan of 3D) Or a simple rental if you like action movies
I just saw it recently for the first time, as well. Enjoyed it a lot. Just big action fun.

Last night, I watch Pan. I thought the 3D in it was about the best I have ever seen. Not exactly the same story from my childhood, but a good version nonetheless.

This was actually the very first 3D movie we ever watched. It was on our old ST60 Panny plasma. When we bought the tv at the end of 2013 it was because we heard that they were being discontinued and we had read that plasmas had the beautiful deep blacks like our CRT Sony HD (34" and we still have it)

Well we didnt even realize it was a 3D capable set and honestly didnt care.

Then my brother and nephews wanted to come over for movie night and I found Pacific Rim 3D at our library and figured it would be a good "guy" movie.....

Wow, non stop action, excellent 3D and the sound shook the entire house. Even our dog left the room.
I tell ya, no one took a bathroom break for over 2 hours And no squirmy, restless 12 year old boys.

After that the 3D quest began......

We have yet to watch it on the OLED, I can only imagine

Oh and we kept the plasma, it just found a new home upstairs

Another day, another monster movie: Godzilla 3D.

This is a different kind of monster movie, almost lumbering (no pun intended).

3D was medium with letterboxing reducing the overall amount of immersion a bit.

Detail was strong, but colors were muted. Black levels weren't a problem on OLED.

Robust 7.1 sound was probably the suprise standout here. Sound is really great.

The tone of movie is more dramatic, as opposed to focusing on action or style.

It's a solid keeper, but not something I'll be watching on a regular basis.

Lost River 3D
HD Zeta Batman v Superman 3D Double Lenti

I have pre-ordered multiple version of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Wonder Woman, Planet of the Apes because I'm not sure which combination will give me the best value while being Region A compatible and taking up the least amount of space on my shelf and 3D titles have been selling out left and right lately. Anyone else in the same predicament? Advice would be appreciated!

Pre-Orders:
Spider-man:Homecoming:
Amazon US: 3D Only Amaray
4K Only Mask
HMV UK: 4K/3D Steelbook
3D only SB w/ Resin Magnet (SOLD OUT)
** Blufans OAB Edition is 4K only. I would skip but want to complete my Marvel Collection

Amazon FR: 4K/3D Amaray
** HD Zeta 3D Double Lenti also

War for the Planet of the Apes:
Amazon US: 3D Amaray Only
HMV UK: 4K/3D Steelbook

US Versions are released earlier & the 3D disc is GUARANTEED Region A. Combo steelbooks will have Region Free 4K discs but 3D disc could be Region B locked!
Wow, you do your homework on releases. I had no idea there were 4k/3d combo packs outside of the US. I don't care for steelbooks but I do want the cheapest option to get the 4k and 3d releases.... Cheers

the train trestle scene in terms of audio and sound design is super amazing - wish Warner's would release this on UHD with it's theatrical Atmos mix intact.

I put a LOT of time into researching titles. I keep it all in an Excel spreadsheet with the release date, order date, website, current price in local currency v USD, payment method and payment date & amount (along with my pay date). That way I can make sure funds are there when necessary.

I budget down to the dollar each and every month because I have low credit card limits since I can't work I live check to check and have to make sure "X" funds are available on "Y" day. I've shared it with a few others who found it helpful so PM me if interested.

If nothing else, I figured others might like to see what options are out there. I just hate that the release dates for so many movies still haven't been officially released!

Hi Damon,

You'll like them both. I'm really hooked on Wolf Totem, though some others aren't. Simply gorgeous outdoor photography in 3D! Let me know, okay?

I just watched Wolf Totem. Some parts went on a little long and how the city kid and/or wolf survived is baffling to me. But yes, it was a beautiful looking film in mostly mild 3d. Certain types of films don't need to have strong 3d and I think if this one did, it would have been distracting.

I'm pretty sure that it played in 3D in Russian theaters.

Timur Bekmambetov acted as producer on this (The Darkest Hour, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Ben-Hur, etc.)

Do you speak Russian or German? Because those are the only language options.

Four years of high school German

I understand enough to make sense of things but I'm not fluent by any means. I understand a lot more than I can speak

Watched BvS 3D, and wow was I blown away by this disc!

When I bought this, I watched the EC and figured I'd wait a bit & watch 3D later.

Then I kinda forgot about it, till Wonder Woman was on the horizon.

BvS 3D was back when WB was doing 3D right, great 3D + Atmos sound.

The 3D was surprisingly good for a conversion, they actually pushed the 3D.

Blacks were a little weak at times and there was alot of noise in certain scenes.

Other scenes, like the evil Superman nightmare, were clear as a bell...no noise.

After slogging thru the EC, I actually enjoyed the TC more (3D was a major plus).

Only thing I missed from EC was that freaky flash of something after the credits.

A few good finds today.

Monsters vs Aliens 3D for $12.99 at Disc Replay.

This is the Samsung promotional release with B.O.B.'s Big Break in 3D too.

I can pickup the 2D BD version for cheap to round out this package with extras.

Also picked up The Pirates! 3D for $7.99 (no slip).
