Alien Covenant would have been a box office hit, if they hadn't have shoehorned the Alien brand onto it, and just made it a Prometheus pre sequel. I doubt that joe blow audience that saw Prometheus and made that film a success even connected that much with the alien connection.

As a huge buffy fan I still say nah. Watchmen > Whedon. Now if he oversees a blu ray remaster for buffy maybe I'd change my mind but that'll never happen.

You could argue really it fell between the gaps, still too idiosyncratic for a mass audience but a bit too straight forward and aimed at entertainment(which he admitted himself) for the arthouse crowd.

Now Calvary feels like it’s gone a little forgotten by most people, one of the best things to come out between the McDonagh brothers, probably just behind In Bruges.

That did at least get a good deal of praise on release but it does seem to have been forgotten rather in the years since, I don't remember seeing it mentioned much in media best of decade lists.
