I'd like Dark Force to clarify the above. Surely if members get early shipping of titles then they would receive them before any controversy causes a title to get pulled, as what happened recently with Death Rage.

Subbed.

Hopefully this allows Dark Force to bring more great titles to everyone, club or not.

Yes, you will get the shoddy release.

I'm actually thinking about subscribing. I think the 'excluded code red' disclaimer could be an issue. What's to prevent them from slapping a CR logo on The Farmer release because they can make more money that way? That seems the most unethical way forward, and that's what I would expect. What we're stuck with is trash like Mirror, Mirror 3-18.

The farmer won't be included in this, if it were it would be heavily advertised.

But if you've bought most of the DF releases anyway or like CR-style titles it's definitely seems a good deal. Note that the new DF premiere DTV modern horror titles are excluded from this also so you don't have to worry about getting those.

It would behoove Dark Force to make the first round really exciting for those who subscribe so that they have interest in a 2nd round and can make it a persistent business model like VS.

Mirror Mirror only has 3 sequels, I think you're confusing it for the Witchcraft series. As for Dark Force "slapping a CR logo" on The Farmer, the movie is Bill's - it's up to him whether he releases it through his own label exclusively or a joint release with Dark Force.

I was typing too fast and threw The Farmer up as a lark. I meant to suggest any 'high profile' title that could conveniently be excluded just to maximize profit. The typical 24 titles would be the standard scraping the bottom of the barrel, while the titles Bill constantly bellyaches over will be excluded.

I was being sarcastic, that the 24 would be turds extraordinaire. Titles that are only on the radar of 15 people in the world including the director, gaffer, fluffer, director's mom, etc.

Do you like the drive in series? If not at all you may want to pass as that will likely make up a good deal of the sub.

And in all frankness, aren't all CR/DF films scraping the bottom of the barrel in a good way? this subscription is more for people who like the titles in general rather than people who just want the high-profile titles.

Finally, the sub model has worked out great for VS. If DF doesn't make it great they won't get re-subs next year and the model will fail. Plus 1/3 of the titles are already announced thus given the cost savings there isn't much risk involved if you like those titles.

If DF guaranteed Hawk the Slayer/ Sword & the Sorcerer in this bundle, I’d pay 4hundy just for them. Could retire my UK copy of Hawk.

Have you all forgotten about how they handled Screams of a Winter Night and Dead Pit?
They'll take you for every penny if they can. I don't get how anybody can place their confidence in them and give them their hard earned money.
They are simply not Vinegar Syndrome.

Based on people’s negative reactions to the membership, it seems less likely The Farmer will be coming soon. I also think Dark Force will be making a mistake if they don’t do an international club if the US one isn’t deemed a success, they should have set it up from the start to allow everyone to join and just charge extra for shipping for international customers, that would have also given them a better picture of how many people are interested in it.

Even if DF only sells 10 subs thats $4k upfront to finance future projects and offset covid19 sales losses, plus 240 discs sold in 1 day. Not much downside there

International shipping is more complex so they probably wanted to get a domestic model down first.

You have to remember that some people will complain about something and claim they will never buy it to look good socially, then go ahead and secretly buy it anyway. Much like game microtransactions.

Good to hear the DF Club has sold well enough to warrant an International offering. Always glad to hear an independent has success.

I would be curious as to how many signed up. My guess would be somewhere in the 50ish range.

Lol, this is so true.
I liken it to the folks that hate watch a given tv show.

I am no DF apologist, but $16 a title isn't too bad for the next 24 titles in the pipe. So, yeah, smoke 'em if you got 'em.
