My pioneer elite sc-lx87 has fixed crossover for all speakers. you can choose 50,80,100,120 hz. Can't set individual crossovers for speakers. The jade 2c center is rated to 55hz at -3db so I'm forced to set crossover to 80hz for all speakers. Given the jade7 lowest crossover is 180hz then the dual 8" woofers would only be tasked with 80-180hz so I just run them full range instead, rather than having a 5th crossover in a speaker that is already a 4 way speaker.
I'll eventually get around to using jrivers room correction with a umic-1 and set crossovers on the PC instead of in the AVR so I will be able to set individual crossovers. Jade 5 Tweeter > 2.4khz Mid 2.4 khz - 340 hz Dual 6.5" woofers < 340hz Jade 7 Tweeter > 2.48 khz Mid 2.8 khz - 590 hz Single 6.5" woofer 590hz - 180 hz Dual 8" woofers < 180hz So for a 5.1 setup, the jade5's have dual 6.5" woofers punching 80hz - 340hz. In contrast the jade 7 only has a single 6.5" woofer punching 180hz - 590hz. That's why I feel that in 5.1 there is not much advantage in the more expensive jade7. |

When Music Direct put the 7s on sale for $2500 with a deal for 3 years no interest I couldn’t pass it up and ordered a pair. It took 7 months to get them in Vintage Cherry but the wait was well worth it. To my ears the Jade 7s sound even better than the Jade 5s and to my surprise they blend seamlessly with the 15” subs crossed over at 60Hz. And with the 3” midrange crossed over at 590Hz vs. 340Hz for the Jade 5s I can push them harder before they start to lose a little of their composure. So it’s my personal preference based on experience in my system but if anyone were to ask me I’d suggest the 7s over the 5s every time even if used with a sub. That said I could gladly live with the Jade 5s which are now in my wife's living room being powered by an Arcam AV receiver. |

I currently have a Jade C1 center channel speaker with four Jade SRs for the surrounds and rears. I'd love to get my hands on a Jade C2 preferably in Vintage Cherry to match my Jade 7s but I haven't been able to find one anywhere. The Jade line has been discontinued unfortunately and I've had no luck contacting every Wharfedale dealer I can find in the US and Canada. If anyone knows of a Jade C2 for sale I'd appreciate any information possible.
Thanks |

Need help and advise...
I purchased a set of Wharfedale Quartz Q7 AV system speakers, consisting of a pair of floorstander speakers, a pair of bookshelf speakers, a center speaker, plus the WH-D10 subwoofer. I unboxed only the subwoofer and the bookshelves, and connected these as a 2.1 system to my receiver-- the sub's "input" to the receiver's left and right speaker terminals, with the bookshelves wired to the "output" terminals of the sub. Turned on my amp and music source, but all I hear were the low frequency sounds from the sub. There were no sounds coming from the bookshelf speakers. The bookshelves work fine when wired directly to the receiver, but not when wired to the subwoofer. What's wrong? |
