Excellent thread, guys.

I'll be getting the individual versions from Amazon (if they're in stereo, I'll just grin and bear it) over the next few months, to enjoy the Quicktime docus.

And then these will find a permanent place both in my home theater and on my iPhone... until the next, better, Blu-based release comes along.

But isn't the stereo remastered Past Masters only available in the box set? I thought I read somewhere that the only way to get Past Masters stereo remastered was in the stereo boxset.

That's Alliance, man. Alliance.

Disney has the distribution rights for USA, right? I'd rather wait for that.

You mean this?

Nah, it seems that the only thing exclusive to the box set is the DVD of the videos you get as Quicktimes on the individual albums. And the box itself as a storage unit can't hold a candle to The Box of Vision... at least for me, so this is the route I'm going.

The nice thing is that I had my Gold Box full of Remasters today.

The Box of Vision sounds cool. The ads claim that it can hold all of the "digipak boxes for the upcoming Remastered CD’s". Do you know if it can hold all of both the mono and stereo disc sets, or just all of one set or the other?

EDIT: Never mind. Just took the "virtual tour" of the product. Looks like it can just hold one set of the "core" albums, including red and blue, anthology, love, yellow sub, etc.

Hmm...decisions, decisions...

I hope they are not digipak cases for the individual releases, I was gonna get Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper,Rubber Soul and Revolver to start,I can't afford any of the the boxes right now. I'm just gonna buy those for now to see how they sound, I hope the dynamics are not ruined by "loudness" remastering that seems to so common these days.

According to the Abbey Road team there is ZERO dynamic range compression on the MONO set and absolute minimal amounts applied to the STEREO set. From all accounts so far it's pretty incredible.

That Box of Vision is awesome looking.

As for "Abbey Road" it sounds fantastic. I can't see where any Beatles fan would be disappointed by it or the other CD reissues for that matter. But that's just my opinion. Obviously, not everyone will hear the same way I do. But still, they did a really nice job with these.

Next stop will be the mono set a little ways down the road. I would grab it sooner than later, but I have a trip to Paris coming up in November. Gotta save up a little bit to nab some French BDs.

Best buy has the stereo set for 199.99, the only problem is work 10 to 6 Tues (release day), what's the chance of it being "sold out" when I get there at 6:30?

I think they are more like mini LP sleeve replicas. People over on the Steve Hoffman forums are raving about how well done they are. The level of detail and authenticity is supposedly first rate -- all the way down to the spines, with the White Album's spine listing catalog numbers for both mono and stereo and the Sgt Pepper spine having its lettering "backward" in relation to all the other titles!

I ordered both box sets from Barnes and Noble, who reportedly isn't going to ship anything out until the 9th! Other online retailers are already shipping. Sigh... I'm just hoping they will arrive before next weekend.

It does look awesome. I just can't justify dropping any more dough on top of the box sets right now. Luckily I had a whole bunch of Barnes and Noble gift cards saved up from several birthdays, so on top of my member discount I was able to get both sets together for around $315 (plus tax)!

I think I read that the mono albums available in the boxset are "mini LP sleeves", but the stereo albums in the boxset and individual releases are digipacks.

I like the idea of the sleeves personally, but I'm not the only one fearful of damage, am I? With a jewel case, if it gets damaged, you can always get a new case and put the inserts in there, but if your sleeve gets damaged, you're screwed.

Couldnt BOTH stereo and mono versions of each album fit in single CD's with the exception of "Abbey Road", "The White Album", and "Yellow Submarine"? Capitol did it with The Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds" album!

That's an argument a lot of people are making.

I don't think EMI correctly estimated the overwhelming interest that the mono releases would generate, and opted to market them as a niche product.

How about Past Masters 1 and 2, isnt there some songs that were in both stereo and mono?

Yes, and there are also songs on Past Masters in stereo which were never recorded in mono, so in order to have everything as it was originally recorded, you would need the Mono Box Set and the last three albums AND Past Masters.

I am low on funds these days, so I will be cherry picking for awhile then I will be getting the MONO Box Set down the road. Hopefully this set will be produced in large enough amounts that I wont be forced into buying it on EBAY say next year for like $600.00. I will be starting with The White album, Past Masters, and Abbey Road this week and maybe A Hard Days Night too. I do believe I saw Past Masters for $12.99 in the Best Buy ad (which is a steal if it is true). I saw the White Album for $16.99 in the same add. Target has Abbey Road for $11.99. Target and Best Buy are right next to each other where I live so it will be easy for me to pick em both up on Wednesday. I read in a earlier post a guy say that he has to work a long hours on Tuesday. To coincide with the video game release and the date of 09/09/09 they will be released on Wednesday this week not the usual Tuesday. Just one question guys I have both of the Capitol years box sets from a few years back. Does anybody know if these new remasters are that much better in quality then those? Either way I will eventually get them all, but I'm holding off on the earlier albums (pre Rubber Soul except A Hard Days Night of course)

How sad that John and George aren't around to see this wave of Beatlemania coming around again.
