I would think for most any receiver that more space would be better. It would also help if you used a fan to actively remove hot air. Something like this maybe.

Depends on the receiver. The manual for the 23 recommends at least 60cm space on top, 10cm at the rear and 30cm on the sides. But, as said above, more is always better.

One inch is too low. Keep the cabinet door fully open until you install a fan.

I just purchased the VSX21 and got it hooked up. Now, I'm looking to get some new speakers. I was looking at the PSB Image series, mainly the new B5s, C5, and B4s for surrounds. The nominal impedence for the speakers is listed as 6 ohm. The VSX21 should be able to drive these without any issues, right? I just want to make sure before I go out and buy some new speakers.

Pioneer recommends 8ohms. But yes it can handle 6ohms.

(SC-27 Owners) Does anyone notice that when listening to music "Extended" sounds a lot better than "Stereo"? I get more Bass with CDs and listening to Sirius. Does anyone know why this is? Also, sometimes the SC-27 won't turn ON with the remote control. I have to actually turn it on manually by pressing the power button on the unit.

I wish I could help, but I have not heard of any issue like this with any of the Elite's. But since I use a Harmony remote I really do not have much more else to add to your problem. Hopefully, there are others relying on the Elite remote who can help....

So here we go. I really want to pick up the SC-27 but my issue is the 7.1 speakers I want to use are rated at 4 ohms while the 27 is rated at 8. I have read that to get the THX Ultra 2 Certification all channels should be able to run stable at 3.2 ohms.

So can I run these speakers on the 27?

I want to say yes, but my answer is no. The SC-27 is an awesome receiver, but the risk of you frying your new receiver is too great with all 4 ohm speakers. When you start to turn it up, those hungry little bastards will suck the SC-27 dry over time, and then all you might have left is a really big, heavy paper weight. I think you could get the SC-27 and add an external amp to help with the power, but it will still need to be a really good amp with lots of power to distribute if you all 5 or 7 speaker are 4 ohms. This route would cost you more money in the end of course. Good luck!

If the speakers were 6ohm I would say yes...even then I'd look into getting an amp to run them whenever I could. While the sc27 could probably handle 4ohms fine....its not worth the risk to fine out and have it ruin your receiver.

I'm wondering where everyone here is buying your receivers from. For those of you purchasing off the internet, are you worried about not having a warranty? I thought these units could be bought online, but I sent an e-mail to Pioneer trying to verify one online dealer in particular and this is the response I got:

Quote:
Mr. Lane

There are no dealers online authorized to sell Elite products. The manufacture warranty only applies to units purchased from authorized dealers.

Thank You,

Kimberly
Customer Service Representative
I welcome any and all responses.

Most purchase a warranty with the receiver while others take the risk.

I was looking at going the online route but it's to risky for me for such a piece of equipment. Going to have to spend a lot more to get it here.

I got mine from 6th Ave and by calling on the phone to get around the "purchasing on line" position that Pioneer has for its warranties. I was still able to get a 3 years warranty for about $70 extra. "Got Rice" helped me out quite a bit here, perhaps you could send a PM to him to find out if this still works fireman.

Question Please recommend a suitable TV stand for the PIONEER ELITE SC-25!!!

HELP!!! - I now own a PIONEER ELITE SC-25... while it is a beauty and awesome - it is a BEAST in size. Can you guys recommend a couple of great TV stands that can hold this monster comfortably with some room for air to circulate and back connections not bending or touching anything?? I lloked at some BDI, Bush, and Bell'os but they all seem to come up short! THANKS!

How about you get another receiver that WILL fit and you could just sell me that SC 25 for about 50% off (depreciating factor).
