That could also explain why his "new" chest piece looks damaged.

The stomp could be correct, but the chest piece doesn't look damaged to me.

It has to be a new campaign. Isaac needs a new support crew. He can't go it alone.

[Show spoiler]Was Nicole at the end a hallucination or real? Why would he hallucinate after the marker was returned? Also, if the entire time the marker was f**king with Isaac's mind, that doesn't explain who was PHYSICALLY opening the door for Isaac late in the game.
If someone can answer those i'd appreciate it.
I was wondering that as well. Also, the very first time you see nicole on your com (on the first level I think) the black guy even saw her, he says something like "Oh, was that Nicole? Hope we can find her".
[Show spoiler]So even he saw and heard her, I didn't think they would all be hallucinating her, especially not after just landing on the ship

but he saw her as a video clip, that back stabbing lady was messing with the video clip to make it look like she was alive

The official site is up. Not much is there now except for the teaser image and links to GI's coverage.

Here's the logo:

Yeah but that doesn't answer the other questions at all. I think they rushed the story towards the end, as a series of events happen that don't really make sense and aren't explained. If this was an average/below average adventure, it wouldn't matter. But because it's such a top notch game, you have to be overly-critical of plot points that make no sense because there's nothing else to criticize

sorry, i should have clarified more what i was saying, im pretty sure septimus is right is his explanation, yeah the plot seems to be a bit sketchy there,
[Show spoiler]because they didnt really fully explain the powers the marker had, if it can only make hallucinations, or can it make one person look like another, or can it just create a real being that looks like someone who is now dead, it could have made the one girl that betrays you at the end look and sound like his girl, or created a person out of a dead necromorph or something to make him think she was there, theres a lot of different explanations depending on the full extent of the powers of the marker, but septimus' explanation is the simplest one that still makes sense

Well, actually here's how I think it went down. You actually see
[Show spoiler] Nicole in the video inject herself with the same thing I imagine Dr. Mercer used as an injection. So she would turn into a necromorph. Now why she would do that (if it was because of the marker or not) i'm not sure. You don't know at what time the video actually takes place. It could be an old video and not a live feed.

As far as the part where she opens doors, that could be her as a necromorph but seen by Isaac as still Nicole, or it could be actually her prior to the injection, but this is never explained so it's all speculation.

Now Nicole could have taken the injection on the ship that Isaac escapes with, but the timing is way off. That seems more probable than her turning to a necromorph and still have brain function to get to the ship. Either way, none of this is ever explained.

I mean give the player something to think about, but to piece together a major chunk of the storyline with no hard info is a cop out IMO.

I'm just going to put this out there:

I think there may be a female protagonist in Dead Space 2. Perhaps in an RE5-style co-op capacity. I posed this question to an employee of Game Informer and was essentially met with "no comment ".

yeah, see i never even though about some of that stuff, they really just didnt fill in a lot that would have given some insight to the final seconds there, yeah, i think it was kind of lame too, i guess they figured the game was good enough that they didnt need to do all that work on the story

that would be really cool if there was an online coop mode, maybe even work in some kind of multiplayer system

I think it would kill the atmosphere in terms of the isolation mechanics that give the game its "fear factor". I mean, throughout the entire game, you have like 2 or 3 encounters with any "live" people, and the rest of the time its Isaac totally alone.

What if they spilt the two of you up on occasion, with only sporadic radio communication keep you connected? I could see that being equally thrilling, especially if your voice chat was "affected".

I'm not saying it can't be done, but look at what happened to RE5. It is without a doubt in anyone's mind the least scary of the entire franchise. Whether that's because of co-op, or daylight, or ample ammo and weapons I can't tell (or a combo of all of them).

Personnally, the fear of DS is not only the fact that your pretty much alone, but that your an engineer using mining tools as weaponry to save your ass. Some of the coolest parts were stepping into zero g areas outside, and (not) hearing pretty much anything and just looking out into the vast space system . It really gave that "not only are you alone, but nobody is out here to hear you scream either" type of effect.

If they play around with the mechanics that made the first one work, I think it will weaken the franchise. As a new IP, I think the 2nd game is more important than the first. Anyone can get lucky once, pulling off a successful sequel is much harder.

Batman AA was awesome, but the true test of whether that series can survive as a franchise is what they do with the next one.
