[Show spoiler]being caught by the Snatchers and dragged off to Malfoy Manor...to me this would give them the suspenseful cliffhanger that they need. But when I think about it, there really isn't much left to give the 2nd film any meat after that....they escape to Shell Cottage, talk about the Hallows, break into Gringots, and then go to Hogwarts for the final battles. I guess thay could split it where I assume they will and just extend the final battles alot in the final movie.
I figure they will end part I after

I enjoyed the DH but in the middle it does kind of come to a stop, although if they can get the Gringott's sequence right that will look amazing as well as the end battle of course.

I'm not a big fan of 1 & 2 but 3 was a real step up, 4 I don't really have a problem with and 5 was great but I think from a visual and acting stand point HBP is the best yet, no 3's plotting and pacing is spot on and Alfonso Cuarón really did show Columbus up for the mediocre film maker he is.

I'll be interested to see how they handle that last chapter and will it have the effect it should after all that the characters have been through as many weren't too keen on it and described it as cheesy.

I personally think the film will do it more justice, yes I look forward to the end of this series and for the record all of the HP films are far superior to Lucas's god awful prequels.

It is right to say that HP will live on and kids that grew up with like my generation did the original SW films, HP will indeed resonate for many years after it ends.

I think they'll just pick a climactic moment somewhere near the middle,
[Show spoiler]like the death of Dobby
and end it there.

That's my guess--
They have to tease with going to Hogwarts in the "next" movie, so it's the most climactic Intermission point.

Oooh, a Deathly Hallows thread! I am an absolutely insane Harry Potter fanatic here, heh (hence my username and avatar)

Well, anyway, I was looking about and found a discussion going on about a speculation as to where Part 1 is supposed to end.
From what I remember, I think it was confirmed to some extent that Part 1 will be ending
[Show spoiler]right after the trio gets caught by the Snatchers and then Part 2 will pick up right at the beginning of the Malfoy Manor scene and be followed by Dobby's death
.
I am oh-so-excited for November 19th!

This will answer you question.

If you’re like me, you want to grab a time-turner and jump forward to when the final two Harry Potter films come out. In the meantime, I’ll just glom on to anything that’s related to the remaining movies. Today, that’s unofficial photos someone snapped on the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II. I won’t tell you when precisely in the movie these photos are (the movie has an ending, so sorry to spoil that) from so that people who haven’t read the books won’t be spoiled. Basically, this is spoiler-town and if you don’t want to visit. Gallery.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 hits theaters on November 19th, and Part II hits on July 15, 2011. Both films are being converted into 3D.

Yep! those pics look very interesting and cannot wait. July 2011, it will be coming to an end after 10 years, time sure goes fast.

Can we now expect a ultra duper ultimate Blu-ray release for December 2010

Oh HELL yes!!! I remember it being such a gut wrenching scene... but the movie? "C'mon professor - drink some more water" "Oh, Ok"

Booooring!

I think it will be one of three places.

[Show spoiler]
  • A shot of Harry after Hermione casts the hex on him to hide him from the Snatchers.
  • Dobby apparating into the cellar at the Malfoy's manor. You hear a crack and then see Dobby's eyes through the darkness.
  • Dobby lying dead in Harry's arms. Edit: Actually it would be better to end it after the funeral because you wouldn't want to start the next film on that or end on a shot of Dobby lifeless.

Hope there is alot of the novel substance in this 2 part movie, as the 4th movie should have been about 30 mins longer.
