There is no arm twisting here. I've had 300 pre-ordered as soon as it was available. This is going to be amazing on Blu-ray. It's a very fun movie. I have the Frank Miller book too. It's amazing how closely the movie resembles the boot. Disney, please give us Sin City soon, please!!!!!!!!!!

What are we back in kindergarten? This is a little childish don't you think? But go ahead, just buy '300' on BD because you think you can proof something. Warner Bros thanks you in advance! The only reason for a rational person to buy a movie would be because he or she likes and wants it. You certainly won't change anything on the outcome on whatever format might survive by buying this movie.

I wasn't going to buy this title, as I've been highly annoyed with the bit starved Warner VC-1 encodings ported over from HD-DVD and their so-called 'neutral' withholding of titles from Blu-ray because of IME - even if those titles don't even have IME on the HD-DVD versions - and their grandstanding over The Matrix HD-DVD 'exclusive' to the public, even though they already committed to releasing it on Blu-ray as well. All of that coupled with that fiasco of an encoding that was Blood Diamond (which was truly to be my last Warner title for a good long while until I found out about Purple Rain, which I just had to have) had me saying 'heck no' to any more Warner titles, at least for a god 3 or 4 months, but then I saw all the BS that the HD-DVD fanbois were carrying on with on Amazon, and it launched me into action. Suckered into yet another Warner smoothie. Oh, well.
![]() But, it didn't end there, not only did I pre-order 300 on Amazon, but I also went through all of the reviews and reported every HD-DVD fanboi as abusive and marked each review as not helpful - but I didn't stop there either. I then went through all of my Amazon recommendations and marked every single HD-DVD title they had the audacity to recommend as 'Not Interested', and made sure I marked every Blu-ray it recommended which I already owned as 'I Own This' and rated it. THEN, I went into 'Improve Your Recommendations' and went through every Blu-ray that was listed as owned and marked them with these keywords (in addition to some specific to each title, like actors' names, genres, etc.): BD, Blu-ray, High Definition, PS3, Playstation 3, 1080P, HDTV. Do you think they got me riled up enough? ![]() |

Bottom line: Wow, I just cannot disagree with you with enough emphasis. The outcome of the format war does not rest on whether or not "300" on Blu-ray outsells its HD DVD counterpart -- duh. However, one would be painfully naive to think that the result won't be carefully watched by quite a number of on-lookers (supporters of both formats; Warner execs; electronics manufacturers and other retailers potentially sitting on the fence of an exclusive deal with either format, many of whom analyze the progress of this 'war', blow-for-blow), not the least of which include HD DVD fanboys desperately hoping to prove they can outsell Blu-ray, apples-to-apples on this summer's easily most coveted high def title release. I guarantee you, on a percentage penetration basis, this title will be purchased by an overwhelming majority of HD DVD-only player owners. They are content starved, and they are in desperate need of a good news story as compared to Blu-ray. Anybody who cares about driving a speedy resolution to this format war knows the sales volume of this title clearly represents a battle, as far as impending press releases and indicators go, (remember Pirates vs. Matrix? Well this one's a more fair comparison), and for this reason alone, anybody really wanting to see this end quickly is going to make sure they deny HD DVD a victory with this one. It just so happens that the movie is very decent, and if only for a great high def reference and workout for one's home a/v system, this one's worth making a statement over and has wide appeal. Given all these considerations, interests, and perceived opportunities, I, as presumably ever worthy enough to be considered among your 'rational', am looking to garner support for an inevitable PR battle over a release which will surely follow if the sales volume skews heavily in favour of one format over another. Hence the campaign, and hence the option given to choose whether or not you are in. But I must emphasize my opinion that you are sadly naive if you think any lopsided sales results of "300" between the two formats will go unreported, unnoted, and will ultimately prove of no influence -- terribly naive. |

I cancelled my order with Amazon so I could add Roving Mars to my order too. I wanted the free shipping. I guess I should have just ordered it seperately and then merged the orders together, because when I did that, it moved the shipping date to way after the movie is released. (They are both out the same day!) I am wondering if they are going to have enough to go around? That would be cool if they oversold!

The fact that the HD-DVD crappy "Combo" disc is more money will help us for sure.
"I like it, now I can watch it in my car with the kids... blah blah" ...Great! You're the <1 percentile of consumers who have kids, and car with a DVD player, you and let them watch a horribly bloody movie. I might buy a copy of 300 on HD-DVD just to melt it in a microwave then post it on YouTube. |

Depends on where you live. The Fry's here in Indianapolis has really good BD prices. I just picked up Hellboy there for 20$. Sooner and cheaper (considering shipping) than Amazon. I order a lot from Amazon but sometimes the take over a week just to ship.

You guys are all insanely funny (hide it in a dryer -- damn that's funny). The support is fantastic. Don't forget to spread the word. Again, we can't leave this one to chance. Opportunity to make a big sales dominance statement between the HD DVD and Blu-ray is less than 24 hours away!!!!!... Journalists are ready to keep score!......
