That's not necessarily true.

Without Bret, the Monday night TNA show might've caused a dip in the RAW's ratings.

With Bret, the ratings for RAW were slightly higher than normal.

The difference between the two is Bret's true effect, not just the difference between RAW's average rating and yesterday's rating.

~~~~~
I haven't regularly watched wrestling in over 10 years, but one of my friends sent me a barrage of text messages yesterday, telling me to check out both shows. Hart's appearance was enough for me to watch RAW for the first time in who knows how many years.
I switched over to check on TNA a bit, and I'm hoping for their sake that they can start having shows in bigger arenas.
Are they set up similarly to the old Saturday night WCW show, which was filmed at Universal Studios or something?
It seems like a tiny building, and the reaction to Hogan walking out seemed pretty weak, because of the relatively small amount of people in the building. I swear you could make out every last noise from people in the crowd, and the sounds echoing off the walls sounded really bad.
It'd be nice for WWE to have serious competition on Monday nights again, but it's clear TNA has a ways to go.
It's a bunch of WWE leftovers and once Eric Bischoff showed up, I had enough.
The wrestling on TNA is better, not as much talking as on WWE. WWE had Al Sharpton as the guest manager that is an all time low.... Bischoff when he ran WCW they creamed WWE...
I know he messed with Angle's wife... but the guy is the TNA founder. Also I'm sick and damn tired of how the whole TNA roster has to kiss Hogan's azz by calling him the greatest. The two greatest wrestlers did make and appearance and Hogan isn't one of them. I'm talking about Ric Flair and Sting. As usual the TNA originals put on one helluva show and that match between AJ Styles and Kurt Angle was just amazing.
You said it. Flair should be running the show not Hogan....
The two greatest wrestlers currently are Kurt Angle and A. J. Styles. Hopefully Hogan will do the right thing and keep Hall/Nash and the little guy in line.
Flair should have been given the Hogan position, but Hogan does draw large crowds. Technically Flair has always been the better wrestler. Flair can serve TNA well as an advisor to talent relations similar to the capacity of Jim Ross for WWE. I guess if we are gonna have some sort of Wolf Pack deal maybe Flair should manage the new Four Horsemen: Kurt Angle, A. J. Styles, Sting and Jeff Jarrett....
Until about April of '98. Even before that, according to Paul Heyman it was a pyric victory and that WCW was losing $80 Million a year. Heyman's words might be true, might not be. Funny thing is, there were things I like about Eric Bischoff on the air, and I actually liked the idea of him being GM of RAW for the time he was.
I've caught parts of TNA before. Back when it was on Fox sports I liked it alot. I got excited about it coming to Spike, but when I actually watched it on Spike I found it too whiny and fanboyish for my tastes. When Gerin, aka Crhyno simply couldn't be the bigger man and move on, and came out with his anti-WWECW speech, I changed the channel and didn't look back for quite some time. Didn't care for a bit of hipocracy I saw from Cornette/Jarrett either.
Of course, I've caught some good things on Impact as well. AJ Styles wrestles a great match, and I can see Kurt Angle's still got it. One ep I caught was even taken over by the Main Event Mafia, shades of the old nWo.
I would love for somebody to do a time-breakdown of each segment on Monday night's shows, it seems like from the results they did alot less talking for this upcoming show on Thursday but Monday was really losing my interest. The strip poker stuff probably could have been an actual enjoyable X-Division match, especially since the casual person aware of TNA may connect the company with that unique division. I know that's why I started checking out TNA initially.
WWE officials are unhappy with this week's Raw rating. Though TNA provided competition, they felt Bret Hart's return to the company would have garnered at least a 4.0.
The show finished with a 3.6 cable rating, the same number as last week. The show drew hours of 3.51 and 3.73 with the first hour scoring 5,441,000 viewers and hour two pulling in 5,773,000. Raw averaged 5,600,000 for the broadcast.
Way to go TNA! For those who don't know, Hogan debut was at 9pm and at same time over at WWE, Bret Hart was making his return!
I had a hard time watching both shows at the same time!!! lol. I will say it was nice to see Hogan back in the ring but to me all TNA is a copy cat of the old WCW. Frankly I am tired of seeing Scott Hall and X-Pac and I hope there is no NWO because its time to move onto something new and fresh so I hope Hulk and help with that now that he is helping to run things. As for Bret's return to Raw? It didnt do much for me. But if TNA wants to compete with the WWE they better get into bigger arenas and get more exposure or this Monday night war is gonna be short lived.
But the Hulkster is back and I am happy with that.
He wants to elevate guys that can talk, wrestle, and get over with fans. Compared to WWE, that is "new and fresh". There's guys in WWE right now with belts that are walking to the ring to crickets chirping.
yeah I know.. last night I watched RAW from the other day...the crowd was silent lol. Terrible matches too..they should have been dark matches.
They need Flair there to keep Hogan and the old NWO's ass in line.... All he needs is A.J., Kurt, Sting and Double J...
