I haven't seen this, but its by Danny Boyle so my interest is very high. I'll undoubtedly blind buy this one.

Oh hell this movie was beyond amazing i cannot wait for this now

My region 2 is only a DVD so naturally its gonna look awesome.

There's a hi-def trailer of Sunshine in the "Fox Blu-ray" special feature section on the 28 Days Later disc, and my god did that trailer look beautiful. When this comes out on BD it will definitely be demo material with the extremely generous bitrates Fox has been doing on their new transfers.

Hopefully they do BD50/AVC on this, it looks like a title that could really benefit from it. =)

It appears this is coming to Bluray. They have a trailer up for selection on the Hollywood in HiDef website.

I went to the website for the movie, sunshinedna.com, and one of the postings by the webmaster had DVD release dates for many countries, but not the US or Canada. The nice thing, though was the following:

Remember, this is for the DVD release only. There will be a separate BluRay release, but as of yet, I have no dates for that. I suspect it will be released with the US/Canada DVD release.

This was posted on July 8th, but the inclusion of a message about the BD release is awesome! By the way, videoeta.com has a US release date listed for January 8, 2008.

OCT. 29 | LOS ANGELES—20th Century Fox Home Entertainment said it will be the first studio to street a Blu-ray Disc title with picture-in-picture interactivity, with the January release of sci-fi thriller Sunshine.

Fox demonstrated the title’s picture-in-picture feature during the Blu-ray Festival press event here Monday.

In the feature, Sunshine filmmakers talk about the making of the film in a separate video stream that runs concurrently with the movie.

Most Blu-ray players currently cannot play back picture-in-picture features, including the most popular model, Sony’s PlayStation 3. Since launch, all HD DVD players have been able to play picture-in-picture.

However, Fox senior VP Steve Feldstein noted during the demo that several Blu-ray players will be available in coming months with this advanced playback capability.

“There will be players in the market,” Feldstein said.

Sony is expected to soon update PS3 via a firmware upgrade. Samsung’s dual-format player also should be able to play picture-in-picture by the end of January with its own firmware upgrade.

A good thing for the movie so more people take a chance on it, and always good for Blu

hmmm guys i got my copy of Sunshine yesterday (UK), and no sign of PIP, its still a fox release over here too. Oh yeah it also 1.85:1

I really liked this movie, but I'm not sure I cared for the ending.

1.85:1?!! Tell me you're not serious! How in the world could Fox botch the Blu-ray release that terribly? That's awful! They had to know that anyone with Blu-ray's gonna know right away that the aspect ratio is wrong. Good God. I'll wait for the domestic release until Fox (hopefully) gets their act together. That's indescribably stupid. Hell, I'd sooner stick with my upconverted SD DVD version if it's a choice between that or a butchered composition.

just put it in and its not full screen....i thought 1.85:1 was full screen? tell me if i'm wrong.

Just received mine and on the back cover it says "leterbox version 16:9" and sure enougth thats what it gives
