Great news, but I'm starting to freak out due to the lack of release date.

From what I saw over at The Bits today, it's looking like next year, the same time Tron Legacy is released on blu. That's how I took it anyway.

If that's the case, then lets hope for a kick-ass metalcase with both in them-that is if Legacy is not total crap which I'm praying against.

Well, I guess it's good to hear it's coming next year, but disappointing we'll have to wait another 9 months or so. But, I guess I'll look at this from the glass half full perspective and take it that Disney has so much faith in Tron Legacy's quality that they're going to wait until everyone is blown away by it in theaters before selling the original.

I still think it would make more since to release it when the sequel hits theaters. I mean it has been 28 years.

Damn, made myself feel old.

If both Tron movies are going to be released on the same day, then I smell another buy both and get $10 off deal plus another $20 off with Disney coupons

Grrrrrr... that's what I figured was going to happen. Still, I'm going to have to show Tron to my nephews before taking them to the sequel (since they've never seen it)... and now I have to do that on standard DVD. (*gasp*)

I was really hoping to have a shiny new HD transfer by then.

(Incidentally, since the DVD is out-of-print, I expect that used prices are going to go through the frigging roof when Tron Legacy hits theaters.)

Nah, I'm sure they'll reprint it for the theatrical release

They haven't announced a DVD release date either. I'm guessing the reissue DVD will come out when the Blu comes out... which is looking like April 2011-ish.

20 unseen minutes? Haven't heard of that before...any links?

My guess is that you're right. If they're going to do it, they'll re-release a DVD simultaneously with the Blu...As of now, the 2-disc DVD is OOP (the 1998 non-anamorphic DVD has been OOP for ages)...But to have to wait until April 2011? Now I'm kicking myself for having gotten rid of my DVD

Well, now I certainly want my 'Michael Dudikoff: Cyber Ninja' edition of "Tron" when it's released!

Today at the Sci-Fi Fan Expo being held in Toronto, Canada - TRON himself (Bruce Boxleitner) has been on hand to discuss the upcoming TRON: LEGACY movie - and the approximate seven minutes of 3-D footage of the movie that was shown recently at Comic-Con in San Diego was
also shown to enthralled attendees of this Canadian convention.

Boxeitner also spoke of the highly anticipated Blu-Ray release of the original TRON movie - which he added will have 20 minutes of never before seen footage...!

More details to follow soon...!

In my mind, those 20 minutes of additional footage in TRON are far superior and more important than the whole AVATAR movie.
TRON is the absolute sci-fi masterpiece.

Agreed. I'd rather polish the fingerprints off of my 20th anni DVD case than watch Avatar again. Man that movie is boring!

I wonder if they will be the lost scenes of Micheal Dudikoff?
