Wasn't Zipper's SOCOM the biggest shooter on the PS2? I think this is great! I love the realism in Zipper's SOCOM games. Plus, people mainly just pay for shooters this gen. Therefore, you have to give the people what they want (or will pay for). I know you know all of that.

Anyway, I, ALSO, like this announcement because this is the last rock 3rd party devs hide under (when it comes to why the PS3 can do the things it does gaming wise). They like to say things like: It's because of the lack of destructibility that allows them to have great looking graphics like that. Or, it's because it's not a shooter PLUS it doesn't have the destructibility, physics, lighting, textures, particle effects, free roaming camera, etc like this game or that game. That's why it looks and performs that well.

After this game, there should be no more places to hide (if this is all in-game and coop).

I can't wait for E3 either, though!

I can't see why anyone could possibly put down this news.

SOCOM on the PS2 was huge. It still is huge. SOCOM being the first console online MP game of its type. It still has a huge fanbase.

And while the FPS market is over saturated their are barely any good third person shooters. (Army of 2, Red Faction)

I do agree that it will have some competition this fall with Medal of Honor, Call of Duty: Vietnam, Crysis 2 (more future like though), and possibly that other shooter that debuted at Spikes 2009 VGA's .

I wasn't too excited about this but I LOVED the first SOCOM and I never even played it online. I'm waiting for actual gameplay footage though as a CGI teaser doesn't do anything for me

I see what you're saying but to me it won't be competition at all, was never a fan of MoH, CoD is dead to me without IW, Crysis 2 is probably not coming out this year, you forgot GR Future, Halo Reach and Killzone 3/Resistance 3

SOCOM is a bigger franchise than Killzone and Resistance. But I think SCE probably made a mistake in farming the ip out to Slant 6 just to get something out there for the SOCOM hardcore. I expect big things from a Zipper SOCOM.

Awesome! SOCOM and Gran Turismo are my two all time favorite franchises. To see SOCOM 4 coming out this year with Zipper as the developer is a dream come true.
Now with MAG, Socom 4, and Gran Turismo 5 hopefully by the end of the year, I will be in heaven.
SOCOM Confrontation has beenl a great game since Slant 6 patched it up a few months after release, but now make way for the true next generation SOCOM back home with Zipper. Hoorah !!!

I agree. But without the Slant 6 stop gap we wouldnt have the sheep saying "do not want", "meh" and the like about one of SCE's biggest franchises.
