I'm guessing Xmas 09 would be likely, since it'd be close enough to 2010 that they could call it a 25th anniversary set and still be released in the major end of the year buying period.

I watched all of them on Cinemax in HD awhile back and the first one was REALLY grainy! The second had some then the third one looked great! So they need to work on the first alot to make them look great!

I know there's HD masters ready for these, since a pay-TV channel here in Norway aired these in HD. I watched them, and they looked quite good. And they were not upconverts.

Yeah. They recently closed down BTTF: The Ride to make room for The Simpsons Ride. Since the ride was a simulator, they are using the ride footage to create a 'home version' for fans. They also include footage that can be seen in line while waiting for the ride.

What the heck was the Eric Stoltz footage? Wasn't that the guy from Pulp Fiction. No excuse for not releasing BTTF on blu @ the same time as Dvd.

Eric Stoltz was original Marty McFly before Michael J. Fox. About a month and half into shooting, he was fired for being too intense if I remember correctly and replaced by Fox.

Eric Stoltz was originally hired to play Marty McFly. He spent six weeks on the set before he was fired for being "too intense". In other words, he just wasn't getting it right.

Michael J. Fox was the first choice of Zemeckis and Gale, but they weren't able to steal him away from Family Ties. After Stoltz was let go, Fox agreed to take the role despite the ridiculous schedule it'd mean for him. He was working in excess of 20 hours a day for most of the shoot, doing 8-10 hours on the sitcom then working from 6pm-6am on BttF.

Because he was at the Family Ties studios every weekday, any daylight scenes involving Marty had to be crammed into the weekends.

Still, there is footage of Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly, and it'd be interesting to see his take on the role.

Here is a slideshow of images (taken from the BTTF.com website) showing stills from the Eric Stoltz scenes. Strange to see someone else other than MJF with the other cast members.

I'd love to see the actual footage, I hope they decide to include it on the BD.

I normally don't care about extras, but this would be AWESOME.

Of course there's an excuse -- Spielberg will wait for more market penetration of the format before bringing out his best-selling catalog titles. Same thing with Lucas, same thing with Disney and everyone else.

This is one trilogy I do not own on DVD, cuz of the simple fact that I am waiting for it to come out on blu. So they need to hurry the heck up.
