My copy should be here tomorrow. It will be the third time that I've purchased TPE (HDDVD, BD, 3D BD). I had the anaglyph 3D versions and I remember checking out the train sticking out of the screen.

Yeah, this was my third purchase of this as well. But mine was: Lossy Audio BD, Lossless Audio Anaglyph 3D BD, Real 3D BD.

Ditto, I'm hoping this is the last release for a LONG time!

Just finished it. Wonderful movie with some fantastic looking 3D. That part where the lost ticket goes flying all over I rewound about five times it looked so cool. There is little blurring around the edges at times. But it's not so bad that it ruins the enjoyment at all.

And yes the nose of the train does come out pretty far. It's pretty wild. It comes out like a wedge seeming like it's going to bust the sides of the TV off.

The blurring is part of the movie. Its meant to have a hazy dreamlike quality as part of the artistic style. This bluring is very much present in the 2D version.

Looks like another great 3D disc. +1

Thanks for the review Lovemy3D. One last question: The first time you see snow falling is a trip, huh?

Yeah it is. I love the falling snow. It really adds a lot to the sense of depth.

The snowing looks really good in a Christmas Carol too.

No ghosting on my DLP. Looks fantastic in 3D.

Why hasn't there been a blu-ray review yet?

First Polar Express Blu-ray 3D Review

Review only gets a 3 out of 5 for the picture. Also it confirms that the change between TrueHD and Master Audio represents no real upgrade. Shame cause I had high expectations for this release after the high marks A Christmas Carol got. Sure this version is certainly better then the anaglyph 3D version but that just wasn't enough for me. There are so few 3D movies out there that every one that doesn't blow you away is tragic.

That review is just one opinion...........there have been plenty of user reviews here, and on AVS that have highly praised the 3d on this one. I have seen good and bad reviews as far as the 3d for just about every release so far (a few titles such as Clash of the Titans seem to get universal negative comments) and Polar Express will be no different.

Also, did you really expect ANY dif between the TrueHD track and DTS-MA? Sounds like they are identical which is exactly the way they should be assuming the same mix which appears to be the case.

I don't agree with most of what I read in that review. It looks much better than the reviewer suggests. The level of depth is fantastic. The darks are never nearly as intrusive as they are in A Christmas Carol. You can always see the scene well. And the sound is damn good too. With all the train effects going around the room, it sounds awesome.

True. I have yet to see the disc but Blu-news.com gave it a 9/10 for 3D

One thing to consider in grading The Polar Expresses quality is the movie was designed to have a hazy dreamlike quality to the picture. Its also a dark film with a drab color palette. It simply isn't designed for a Pixar level sharpness. So I suppose this can account for some of the negative reviews.

Without a doubt if you doubt this is still the best Blu-Ray version of the Polar Express released but after hearing mixed reviews Im probably gonna wait till a good discount before making the upgrade.

I was actually very impressed by the Blu-ray 3D release, some moments just have some great pop and depth. There is ghosting, but a lot of it is minimal really. I have seen mostly positive opinions on this release, but a couple negative.

While I have not seen the 3d version yet, I agree about the sound going off the TrueHD version released a few years ago........excellent audio track
