In the past two weeks, I went blu-WILD. Gotta stop. Catch my breath. I JUST bought FANTASIA.

December is a CRAZY month for blu's.

See? I'm learning not to add an E to the BLU. LOL.

I wish this thread was around when I was starting out! Still, I can't believe how fast my collection grew - you will be 100+ before you know it! I'm pushing on 200 now and I can't believe it!

I thought I'd be under 100 for at least another year, but this season's Black Friday deals were enough to make me wonder if I'll make it through Christmas. By last count, I managed to snag nearly 20 deals I couldn't refuse. And I've still got these Ultimate Electronics BOGO coupons, which means I'll be adding even more this month.

Of course, as a member of this group, I fully expect you all to help ensure I stay at 99 or less for as long as possible.

Anyone want to guess what my 100th blu-ray will be? Or at least offer suggestions?

This thread + curiosity + too much time on my hands got me wondering how collections break down according to size.

As of a few minutes before this post there were 18,605 total collections...

1000+ ------- 58
500+ ------- 404
250+ ----- 1,641
100+ ----- 5,416
50+ ------ 8,876
25+ ----- 11,861
1+ ------ 18,605

There are (not surprisingly) more than twice as many collections below 100 (~13,200) as above (~5400).

Granted, a lot of the collections with one or two entries are just people playing around with the feature but there's still a lot of action between 25-100.

Finally a clique here on Bluray.com where I will fit in !

I tried hanging out in other threads, but I’ve felt like the misft toy here since I started posting in July.

I currently have 48, and I really can’t see myself buying 52 more Blu-rays anytime soon.

Star Trek (2009) is what pushed me to make the jump to Blu, and I have bought only a few until October 26, 2010. I have bought 24 films on Blu-ray since that date, and will most likely blind buy Inception next week.

So I have to done for a while, right ???

(at least until Excalibur....)

Oh, but I have to own Grindhouse . . . .

and I really want to see Alien Trespass, so I will probably blind buy that one....

and it is silly to have Iron Man 2 on Blu, but not the first one......

and how can I NOT own the classic Robocop on Blu-ray

oh yeah, and the Next Gen Star Trek movies....

WOW how could I have forgotten the Battlestar Galactica remake !
I still haven't seen it, so I probably should see it the right way, on Blu-ray, right ?

....but then, I am done. I swear

This group sounds perfect for me. Prior to Black Friday I was at 29 blus. Now I'm at 42 --- still well under the 100 threshold

I feel like a Glee Club member of Bluray collectors. You know, the one who everyone else looks down on for having such a small collection....

BUT WE ARE MANY AND WE ARE STRONG....AND GROWING!

During this past week, I would watch an old DVD to see if was worth upgrading to a $7-$10 blu-ray. Do others do this? Maybe I'm just cheap, but some DVDs are good enough and some are unwatchable.

An interesting topic would be: what are the best DVDs out there that look the best upscaled? I'm new, so I haven't searched the forums yet. Maybe I'm not quite a blu-ray addict, so my question may seem silly. Getting close to being an addict thought :

I've never been in that group that thinks "some dvds are good enough." I took the dip into HD and won't ever go back. If you've got a decent home theatre setup no dvd will ever hold its own against blu-ray, upscaled or not. Especially when you factor in things like lossless audio.

So will there be an annual convention? Maybe outside the Amazon.com headquarters the week before Black Friday? Is there a secret handshake or anything? And how will we keep that Over 100 riff-raff out?

We may be under 100 for a while. We've had our players for a couple of years and We're still under 75. For some reason, I haven't really started collecting yet. We have somewhere north of 600 DVDs, with no real plans to replace most of them. Sure I like BD better, but I don't see the point for the majority of the films we already own, especially considering our BD players will continue to play the DVDs. For now, I'm content to replace only my (our) favorites and the ones that I think (for whatever reason) will really benefit from the upgrade. Otherwise, I mainly only buy new releases on BD... And to be perfectly honest, there aren't many of them that interest me.

Smile I'll be here for a while, probably.

I'll be in the over 100 set in a couple of months. I'm going to do my best to hit the after Christmas sales, which is going to be really hard considering my idiot relatives decided to meet for our Christmas right after. I would beg off, but it's going to be at my parents house this year. I must say that this is a group I will be happy to leave. No offense meant, I'm pretty sick of the blus I have now and want more.
