Yes Double-Dipping is wrong.... I should have the 'double-dip' guy follow me around when ever I go near blu-rays.

But I'm going to continue to dip the way I want to.

Thumbs up

do you have proof? books/links/etc. i'm actually interested in reading about this myself... but i've never been able to successfully google and substantial article about the technical aspects of those periods of television and what technical qualities they were made in.

To some degree... isn't this a whole lot like asking...

Would you be more likely to buy a $1 hamburger if it was wrapped in a fancier packaging and cost $2?

I would much rather have DVD sets of SD shows because they will invariably cost less to make and will cost me less to buy. There's usually at least $10 difference between DVDs and Blu-rays of TV shows.

Why would I be willing to pay more for the same content? And you know IF they did release SD shows on Blu-ray without actually having the shows be in HD... they wouldn't cut much of a price break.

Some of the Blu-ray TV shows are a lot more expensive here in the UK than their DVD's. I agree with you if they stuck SD stuff on BD they'd want more money for it because it's new. If the DVD has gone OOP or is hard to find I'm all for it. Having said that they could just release the DVD again.

Wiseguy, at least the arc with Kevin Spacey.

But in general I agree. I fear that revisiting Miami Vice or Magnum PI would reveal shows mired in their time.

KNow something, I would love to see Six Million Dollar Man released as a complete series on one Blu-ray set, but, at a reasonable price, say around $100.

Honestly speaking, this would never happen.

While I would perfer to have it in blu-ray yes I have recently purchased a series on DVD (Adventures of Brisco County Jr. ). Would have waited but some shows are not destined for this format, at least not for years. . . Having them on on a blu disk but not in HD, beyond the protective coating on the discs I could care less.

I also just purchased all seven seasons of Star Trek the Next Generation on DVD last November. My hope is to tempt fate and have a blu release soon because of it.

If it wasn't in HD, I would just buy it on iTunes.

If it's "The Wonder Years", I would jump on it at an instant!

I doubt that it'll ever happen though, with the amount of $$$ needed to pay for the royatlies of the songs used in that series, the chances of us getting hit by a comet is much greater.

In theory, I think it's a great idea to put SD material on Blu-ray Discs, especially if there are no plans to produce HD versions. Also, while it might be more expensive to produce BDs than DVDs, that should become less and less true. Plus, the fact that you'd need far fewer discs should help keep the cost down. If the cost was comparable, I would much prefer to save the shelf space. I would also like the convenience of only 1 or 2 discs per season (vs 5-7).

Regardless of how much I like the idea, though, I have a hard time seeing it happen any time soon. I just don't see how studios can successfully market the concept. For most people Blu-ray = HD; I just don't see "SD on BD" as a viable concept.

I still don't own any TV show on bluray. Mainly because I don't watch much TV anyway. The little free time I have goes into watching a movie or playing a game on my PC or PS3.

However I'm re watching Friends, Seinfeld The Big Bang Theory and the King of Queens.

I just pulled the trigger on season 5 to 9 of King of Queens of ebay. I already own 1 to 4.

I own all of Friends, Seinfeld and season 1 of Big Bang. I'm just waiting on the price of Big bang to drop and will for sure get season 2 and 3 on DVDs.

So yeah I don't care if TV is in DVD since most of the time the price difference is huge.
