Sorry for the off topic
There's more to a good image than just resolution. If the color timing is totally out-of-whack (like more and more catalog titles thanks to revisionist thinking), what good is the increased resolution? And if DNR or edge enhancement is used, it can end up looking no better or even worse than the DVD. Blu-ray is a great format when the studio isn't screwing up the transfer.

I just finished watching this Blu-ray of Soylent Green, and I'm quite impressed with the picture quality. It's obviously vastly superior to how the film has looked in any other home format, and it's a good presentation of the source material.

I love the Edward G. Robinson tribute.

There are three film noir greats in the movie, between Edward G. Robinson, Joseph Cotton, and Charlton Heston, and I like this historical aspect of the movie.

These 1970s dystopian films are golden.

Thanks for this. Really have a need to re-watch this film again. It's been decades since my last watch. I hope it holds up from what I remember.

Soylent Green holds up well for me, as does The Omega Man.

Of course the visuals are very rooted in the 70's concepts of the future, but that doesn't take away from my enjoyment.

I picked this up having never seen if before, when it was first released on Blu-ray,and really enjoyed it. So far I've watched it twice, and I'm looking forward to watching it again this year. I also liked it better than the Omega Man.

I would assume the 2016 premium collection U.K. release of this has the same transfer? At any rate the premium collection packaging with the classic bulldozering people art certainly treats the film with more respect than the original release with the picture of Charlton Heston's giant green head on the cover

This is essentially the old disc repackaged in a slipbox with some art cards and a digital code thrown in for selling points. Nevertheless, I ordered a copy along with Premium Collection editions of The Omega Man and Logan's Run. Had to jump through a few hoops to obtain these but it was worth it. The giant green head wasn't cutting it for me

So I picked up a copy of this at a second hand shop the other day. Haven't seen it since VHS when I was a teenager. The clerk checking me out looked at it, and said quizzically, "Soylent Green?" So, naturally, in my best Phil Hartman doing Charleton Heston impression I say, "SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!!!" He didn't seem to get it, and looked at me as if I needed psychiatric help.

Further evidence of the sad decline of cultural literacy in today's world.

The other day I drove past a KFC and my own child asked, "Why is there an old man on their sign?" He had no idea who Colonel Sanders was.

Well to be fair to your child their not born with this info out of the womb, asking your parents is how you learn a lot of things.

It was meant to be a joke, not a criticism of my child. I don't actually consider knowledge of fast-food mascots to be essential to cultural literacy.

When I hear such things from the young'ns, I just take it as a reminder of how old I am.

I find this movie, as many Sci Fi and conspiranoic movies of the ear, very profetic. Aren't we already eating plenty of junk food?

I like that flavor, although the texture is a bit too chewy for my liking.

Anyone familiar with Burgess's The Wanting Seed?

I think, if you enjoy the dystopian nightmare of SG, you would enjoy The Wanting Seed.
