I'll get the two movie box, unless they are "vanilla" as i really do enjoy the extras. Not bothered about digital copies at all.

Saw Legacy at the IMAX the other day and thought it was fantastic. Real fun movie, Jeff Bridges was excellent as the digital hippy. The story, although thin (remember its Disney), was very warming, the son, the father and pa's evil copy [no thats not a spoiler, its in the trailer]. Have to say tho' that Michael Sheen's Castor was inspired.
Daft Punk's soundtrack was just awesome too. A must buy.

I saw this for the first time last night and really enjoyed it. I also thought the tactic they took towards the 3D side of the film was quite clever. They used long sequences with no 3D at all, and then all of a sudden a scene in 3D would appear and you would really notice it. Not like these films that aren't shot with real 3D and then have "3D" through the whole film, because you just get used to it and don't even notice it.

Still not sure whether I should have watched the original first though. I have been meaning to watch it, but just haven't gotten around to it yet...

Not sure where you live, friend. But I was able to walk into my local Moviestop Wednesday where they had the original Tron listed for pre-order on blu-ray. Their projected release date is May 1st, but I'm sure it'll be a bit earlier.

I went into Tron Legacy with some reservation as the original Tron I thought was a film that I didn't like.
This one is eye candy and audiophile utopia.
I'll buy this BluRay for sure.
Look, the premise is a 'been there done that' feel (bad guy wants the world) but, the gadgets and whatsits along with the eye candy PQ and booming audio tracks are worth it and I'm assuming should be reference material.

Bravo.

By the bad guy I assume you mean Clu. Clu doesn't want the world he wants perfection as per Kevin programmed him to want. Everything he did, he did for Kevin.

Everything aside from the scenes in the real world is shoot in 3d.

They can, but they are often locked and a seperate disc is included as the actual image can often differ. Often the 2d has adjustments made to it, so aside from including a completely seperate encode for a 2d release on the same disc it is often best to include a seperate disc (there are also instances where the actuall film differs in terms of plcemnent s of object ect between the 2d and 3d release [eg: Alice in Wonderland]).

Well this is a UK forum, so we don't have Moviestop, and looking at how Disney UK release their Blu-rays at the moment, there's a possiblity that they'll only release it in a double-pack with Tron: Legacy, as they seem intent on these double-pack releases.

If they do just release the double pack Disney will be treating Tron like a DTV title something it doesn't deserve be any stretch of the imagination.

I love The Collectors Packaging Edition. I want it, and comes with 3D.

And again, the UK gets shafted in terms of special edition packaging. I wish I could move to the states now.

Same here... I'm definitely importing! The UK releases looks like shit with all the bright-red "Super Play" banners and bad choices of artwork.

It still bothers me though, that Disney is forcing 3D down our throats! I dont want to buy the 3D version of Tron Legacy, but it's apparently un-negotiable. Also you cant buy TRON by itself, which sucks.

Are Disney's BD usually region free? Anyone have any idea how much the five disc set will be?

I hope so! id say they'd be putting it around £35 but put all your import duty on top of that.

35 wouldn't be too bad. It's basically a disc caddy that lights up. It is extremely cool though. Maybe one of our European cousins will get the same as well? Germany and France get some amazing LE's.

Does Disney UK really know how disappointed it's UK customers are not to have this?

I hate when Disney does this.

If we don't get this or something similar I might be put off Disney all together as they're giving America and other countries better Blu-Rays than us!

The Region-A Blu-Ray will have everything: 2-Disc Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray 3D, DVD, Digital Copy, Slipcase, better bonus features, probably a steelbook version, a limited edition version like above ^ - and the UK will get a "Tron Legacy" DoublePlay or SuperPlay pack with a horrible banner and rubbish artwork and only 1-disc blu-ray and 1-disc DVD? Disney really needs to sort out it's home entertainment system.

And, where in the UK can we get a boxset that has a Blu-Ray, DVD & Digital Copy of each film apart from the Family Guy Trilogy? Nowhere.

Whilst I agree for the most part that the UK can get short-changed some times nothing official has been announced for the UK as yet so it's jumping the gun by comparing what's been announced for the US with what's rumoured for the UK. Yes, we've seen some artwork but it hasn't been officially announced and it certainly isn't confirmation that they are the only releases the UK will see.

As for your last question, well boxsets that include everything aren't completely common even in the US but the UK got a Predators trilogy with everything. As for single releases it's definitely not "nowhere". Up, Alice in Wonderland, Prince of Persia and Race to Witch Mountain all have Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy releases and those are just the Disney releases I can recall. There may be more and there would be plenty of others from many different studios.

Suffice to say I think it would be a good idea to wait and see what the actual UK announcement says before the US/UK comparisons begin.

Of course your right, we have lots of Triple Plays. And most of the US sets appear over here in Europe even if it isn't in the UK. We'll just have to wait and see regarding Tron's releases.
