Good question. I suppose it depends on the video source. Seeing as how it was early 80's, it's likely to have been shot on magnetic tape, not film, and a hi-definition transfer isn't likely (a guess). Maybe it'll be clean, better than what VHS would have been capable of, but I wouldn't expect Baraka...

But this is all supposition...

I'm sure they will be upconverted like Alchemy...but really the difference will be in the lack of compression and other ugly artifacts that accompany low bit-rate MPEG-2 encodes should not be there and that's good enough for me.

Interesting if the cover art up with today's story about the release date push is accurate.

Universal Music Group appears to be packaging it as part of their CD and sometimes SA-CD Deluxe Edition line. In other words, that cover looks like it'll be in a CD-size Digipack. Interesting that it's not being packaged the way Mojo and Damn the Torpedoes are even though Moving Pictures is a UMG (Mercury Records) album also. (And they've misspelled Blu-ray.)

Too bad it's delayed. The packaging looks just like the Tommy SACD Deluxe version that I have. I was hoping for the same packaging as Le Noise and the TP releases on Blu

Interesting if true. I guess it depends on price whether or not I cancel my pre-order... On the other hand. Good sales of this title may be encouragement to BB to keep an eye peeled for more titles to come...

FYI, Best Buy's website still list the release date as 4/5 with a price of $19.99.
