Got my copy of From Dusk till Dawn (Alliance release) today. I ordered it yesterday from Amazon after canceling my pre-order for the Echo Bridge version.

Wow, I see Amazon dropped the price to $9.99 a few days ago.

considering people still buy 35, 40 buck blu-rays at stores like borders or barnes & noble, i'm not surprised. and i do get your point. i do believe you didn't get mine.

I do think this will have little effect on the average consumer who shops at the B&M and I may be wrong but I don't think word of mouth will reach the masses.

Hey I started a an exactly similar thread at AVS. I also started one at Hometheaterforum but got a 3 day ban for it.
But you guys seem nicer about it.
They seemed to have a sense of learned helplessness about the whole thing.
here is what we need to do...
CONTACT MIRAMAX.

I am sure the house that Harvey built would be somewhat displeased that a majority of their catalog is being devalued by Echo Bridge.

Echo Bridge is essentially a legally sanctioned criminal enterprise (like Madacy or Alpha Video) they will NEVER change their ways.

Miramax which is essentially a brand new Company probably cannot yet afford such a negative consumer reaction. They are the one's who need to be engaged.

Do you have contact info for them? If so, then please post it.

Somehow I'm not so sure about that.

Alliance was able to do it because that is the product they were sent. At the time, this was Disney, so perhaps Disney had better materials.
Echo Bridge OWNS Alliance. Alliance is a subsidiary of Echo Bridge.

I fail to see how one can have elements that the other has no access to, when they are, for all intents and purposes, the same company.

The "House That Harvey Built" released genre sequels and Oscar-winners alike on DVD with non-anamorphic, letterboxed transfers. It's hard to devalue what's already crap.

But Echo Bridge might just find a way.

Again, Echo Bridge owns Alliance, so I doubt they'll lose much sleep if people buy the Alliance releases.

Miramax is the one to push- they probably assumed Echo Bridge would be as good as Alliance.
Until this week I was also under that assumption.

Yea, I saw those but unfortunately those are only third-party PR contacts used for Miramax's press releases. Direct contact info would be much better but it doesn't seem that the new Miramax makes much info available to the public.

You'd think Miramax would have a final review of EB's work, especially since this is the first time they're working with them, before anything is released to the public.

So any guesses as to what EB has or will do with the releases of Hellraiser: Bloodline and Hellraiser: Inferno?

If the blu-ray is anything similar to the Hellraiser III DVD they're releasing around the same time ...

http://www.ghoulbasement.com/2011/04...-1992-dvd.html

and the Hellraiser: Bloodline DVD

So why in the world are the versions of FDTD so different then?
makes no sense.
why would the echo bridge one be so inferior if they own Alliance?
anyone have a clue about this?

I'm not suprised by all of this. I have never and will never buy anything from Echo Bridge. I'm suprised that some people have already actually bought their Blu-Rays. I thought everybody knew Echo Bridge was bad.

The ones that were mentioned, plus:

Good Will Hunting (DVD Beaver says 1080i, but I can confirm 1080p/24)
Defendor
Yeah, I have a few Alliance titles myself. Most of them are just the U.S. disc that has a reprinted label or in some cases like 1408, is just the U.S. disc thrown in the case. Defendor was a great release, all though I thought the film was ok, nothing special. I have Blade and it's a cropped one. Despite the OAR being cropped, I thought it had a great video presentation.

Echo Bridge doesn't own Alliance. Echo Bridge owns international rights to Alliance's library of titles they have produced. There's a difference.

I just recently picked up Alliance copies of 'Final Destination 2' and 'Final Destination 3'. Looked and sounded pretty good. Wish 'FD 3' had the Unrated version. But all in all I got both for $5 each at FYE.
