I have a new Samsung TV and Blu Ray (un60d8000 tv and bdd5500 blu ray). We were watching Cars 2 this morning, turned the player off and when we came back to resume watching it won't work.
What happens is it goes to a "disney" screen, showing the castle. The remote control functions don't work, the screen says "not available", if i press play it shows chapter 1/2 and 18 minutes of play, after 18 minutes of this it just sits there doing nothing. all my other discs work fine... any ideas/suggestions? thanks jon ![]() |

Similar problems on my two samsung's (6900 and 7900). I did try it on my PS3 80gb and it worked fine on the scenes I was having trouble with. Note AV receiver cannot passthru 3d, which is why I normally have the 7900 hooked up there. The 7900 has a seperate Audio HDMI output.

I finally watched Cars 2 last night, on the Samsung D6700 and didn't have any problems at all on the movie. Didn't watch any of the special stuff that came along with it, though. I really wasn't impressed with the 3D effect of this movie, it really disappointed me. It had some depth, but it seemed the 3D was sort of an after thought. The picture was bright and beautiful, with no cross-talk.

I watched this last night as well and movie played and looked great intill the very last credits it started to flicker and if i went back a few chapters it continued but i turned everything off and restarted, seemed to be ok but i only checked from about 3/4 in the movie. def weird cuz its the only 3d movie to give me any kind of problem so far.

I agree, it may be a settings or playback issue. The depth on my setup was amazing as well. The colors are incredibly vibrant, and like I said earlier those night-time scenes in Tokyo are just stunning. Not one bit of crosstalk anywhere which is impressive for as many dark scenes as there are. I really love this movie!

Interesting hearing the success with the Samsung D6700 series BR Player as all the rest of us got hit with the Cars 2 "Plague"...
As for the Oppo? IDK, I hope someone can chime in that as it. I like that unit & would like to hear how well it works. Back to Samsung: I called them yet again earlier today, this time talking to a "programmer" Manager, I was told they were aware of the issue from release day through today. That the programmers have been working the issue & it's a priority. He said they've heard of the issues from calls, online complaints, & now Disney as their disks are getting returned with nothing wrong... At first the guy tried blowing smoke talking about how the player can read a BD ROM (3D) but isn't set up for BDRW's BDR ECT.. He quickly changed his "example" when he realized I wasn't an idiot. I honestly felt like at this point I was getting the run around as He wouldn't even hint to a time-frame as to when the new firmware will be out. I do like Samsung a lot so please don't get me wrong, but it's been 2 weeks since they acknowledged their players had read-back issues with Cars 2 & the last 2 Toy Story's (3D), either they are sitting on this issue to combine it with something planned, are having major problems, or just don't care, IDK, this was addressed by Panasonic already. Sony's (All including PS3's) are doing great.... To include most everyone once they update the Firmware. Let's go Samsung! ![]() |

Fellas, did anyne who has a Samsung BD player purchase the HP 3D sets from BestBuy? If so are you guys having issues with the player playing the 2D discs? My BD-D5500 would not play the movie after the loading completes.
As for cars 2 like I said previously I am having the same looping issues. I contacted Samsung and they were trying to have me troubleshoot my player. |

Perhaps Samsung needs to release a new firmware update?

YESTERDAY: I noticed your post about the issues ith your BD-D5500 & I was curious. Today I hooked back up the Samsung BD-D6500 (that cant play Cars 2 or Toy Story 2 & 3), sure enough after about 10 minutes into the movies it started that looping crap at different points & chapters. So I called Samsung again today & Let them know to add HP 7 & 7.5 to the list of Movies requiring a Fimware update... I'll go as far as to say what Samsung did, "I'm truly sorry you're having these problems", but coming from me I feel & know your frustration. This is BS. We are closing in on 3 weeks with these read back issues & I'm so tired of hearing "It's at the top of the issues we're resolving & the programmers are working hard". The rest of the large Companies updated the firmware & are doing much better. I bought the Panasonic just because of this issue & I would have probably smashed the Samsung after the Cars 2 & Toy Story issues only to have the same with Deathly HP ![]() I really do wonder if the challenges Samsung is having is due to the Disks (& Firmware of course), but the Samsungs playback is limited to JUST BD-ROMs, where as the Panny plays everything I can think of, BD-ROM, BD-R, BD-RW, ECT.... Just makes me wonder if the "Brand" or quality of these disks have changed confusing the Samsung that the disk may be another format (& I won't get into formats too). Firmware, Firmware, Firmware....... Thank Piracy it's a sad Battle that's costing honest consumers... What about the people who don't have Internet? Call me old school or whatever, but when I purchase a player IT SHOULD PLAY ALL BLU-RAY DISKS FOR LIFE w/o any "required Firmware" updates... DVD worked fine! Piracy killed that idea (jmho on that).... So no HP doesn't work properly on my BD 6500.... |

OK... So I took the player back to Hhgregg and they gave me a new one.
HP BR set 1-8 worked perfectly. Tried Cars2 3D and it worked, tried the regular blu ray and it worked... took the regular blu ray out, put it back in and it wouldn't work. neither would any of the HP movies.... so something with the regular blu ray Cars2 disc causes some MAJOR issues on this machine. I upgraded the firmware to the Oct 18 (latest on the web site) and can play the HP blu ray discs.... afraid to try the Cars2 discs that it might screw up the machine again. this is nuts..... anyone else have this type of problem? |

So all i'd say is if you just discovered that Cars 2 is causing issues w/ future disks then it's probably too late by the time someone reads this to avoid it. Still, it plays All 50+ of my older 3D movies perfectly, but as more come out I find it shelved to the Panny 210. I can't wait until myself or ANYONE updates this thread with the magic words..... "SAMSUNGS FIRMWARE UPDATE IS OUT!" Until then, it's the brakes, I even tested the regular Blu-rays & not 3D & the issues continue. I just got the email from BestBuy to post a review on the Samsung 6500. I think I might just do it & try to save some people the hassle, if you bought it & can still return it, I recommend doing it 100%. No matter how nice Samsungs customer service is, the product doesn't work! |

Settings > BD Data Management > Delete BD Data. I realize it's just a workaround until the firmware is updated, but if it works it may save you (and others) some grief... |

dude... YES! I have the latest firmware, a new model of bluray player and have bought and returned twice because it has breaks in the audio and slight skipping.
