That's a very good point. But do you actually watch the movies you buy multiple times? Back in my high school days I could watch the same movie over and over on a weekly basis but it seems like I am less interested/entertained with them now. I only own them for that brief WOW factor.

I wouldn't venture to say I watch any film enough times to warrant a purchase, but for me, if a film has a certain quality to it that really moved me or entertained me enough I like to feel as though I'm supporting it with a purchase. Kind of like how people still buy CD's despite how ridiculously easy it is to find it online.

A lot of times I'll watch a movie and research about it afterwards and find that I missed a few things then go back and rewatch it. I really like to have the luxury to do so. I get netflix 3 dvds at a time too, but that 3 day turnaround really doesnt cut it for me

If you ask my wife, she will say I am spending too much. This month got:

Transporter
Conquest of the Planet of the Apes
Rain Man
Let Me In
Wall Street
Taxi Driver
The Breakfast Club
Lethal Weapon Collection
Poltergeist
Contact
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Se7en
Spartacus
Life
Elton 60 - Live at Madison Square Garden
The Town
Stand By Me
The Bridge on the River Kwai
Iron Man 2
Speed
Bambi

It took me about 15 months to get 99 BDs. In the last 15 months, I have got 216. Prices have been so great, and in the beginning I wasn't replacing a lot of my DVDs. As I watched more and more BDs, I became less tolerant towards the PQ and AQ from DVDs. So, what can a guy do? Had to replace a lot of the DVDs.

I told myself I was going to stop buying older movies and stick to just new releases until I get caught up on watching them. But then I go to the store and it seems like one just ends up in my hands.

I'm 22 male and still liiwth grandparents who think I spend way to much on blu ray/dvds. I'm trying to cut back so when I do have to live on my own its just to damn hard. I always loved when they got me movies growing up as a kid and I just haven't seemed to stop collecting movies. I do get few the olders titles as I haven't upgrade them to DVD. So I get the blu ray that way I don't have to repurchase it since they are alot less to getting scratched as my dvds do.

Once in awhile I buy a bit too much. But now I try to set a rule for myself that I won't buy a movie unless I'm in the mood to watch it. Why spend the money if the disc is just going to sit on the shelf for a month or two before I even watch it? I also try to remind myself that just because a movie is coming out on a certain day doesn't mean I have to purchase it that day. It's hard sometimes, though, especially now that I work at WalMart. Whenever I'm at WalMart, Target or Best Buy, it's hard to walk out empty handed.

so far this year I have bought....

se7en (digibook)
Lost in translation
Alice in wonderland (animated)
Avatar (collectors edition)
Easy A
The nightmare before Christmas
Bambi
Nausicaa of the valley of the wind
Horton hears a who
the venture brothers season 4
planet earth
Tangled
Cloudy with a chance of meatballs
the duchess
the Incredibles
Megamind

That isn't that bad I don't think for almost four months. It is about 4-5 each month which I am OK with. I only buy things on sale so I can manage to pick up more titles. The most I spent on all of those titles was $25 for the venture brothers season 4. Thankfully, looking at the release calendar there really isn't much coming out in the next couple of months that I am interested in picking up. I figure I will just wind up looking for titles I haven't picked up yet instead of new releases.

How much do you typically spend on criterions? I am very tempted to buy fear and loating for 32 bucks next week but I also wouldn't mind waiting for a half off sale from one of the book stores.

I don't buy movies just to buy movies, or cause they are a great deal, but if I liked enough about a movie I can usually justify supporting it and like to.

I do blind buy plenty, but I'm usually pretty good at knowing the genres and movies I will be interested in watching, even if I have odd taste in movies.

You won't catch me blind buying some deep sad emotional drama on any occasion, it's not my style really, but I might scoop up some random new action movie I wanted to see and hope for the best.

I tend buy criterion blu rays from amazon, average cost 27.99-23.99. Not bad but sometimes best buy has them in stock. I just checked best buy and they will have fear and loathing in LV and blow out criterion edition at best buy store. They started to have blu ray criterion edition at store. They would have thin red line, black Orpheus, merry Christmas mr lawerence, stagecoach, and crumb, 29.99 each.
I can get it Price match from Wal mart. Wal mart have criterion blu ray but online only. Wal Mart have price same as amazon. Good thing that best buy will be able to pm. sometimes i waited for barnes and noble's buy one get one free

Probably, I'm going to Vegas Sunday and I'm sure I'll spend way more time in stores buying new (and used) blus. Anybody know any good flea markets there?
