USA Paul (2011) -- August 9th, 2011

Paul Blu-ray/DVD/DC (Unrated/Theatrical)

Paul Blu-ray Review

Quote:
Universal Studios Home Entertainment has confirmed the Blu-ray release of their science fiction comedy Paul for August 9th. The Greg Mottola (Superbad) film will be housed in a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack featuring both the theatrical and unrated versions of the film on each disc. The first wave of Blu-rays for Paul will also include a digital copy.

The film reunites Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) as two sci-fi fans traveling to extra-terrestrial tourist spots in the American southwest. There they meet Paul (Seth Rogen), a slacker alien who has escaped from his government captors. The screenplay, which was drafted by Pegg and Simon, features allusions to many of Hollywood's science fiction classics. Also starring in the film is Kristin Wiig, Jason Bateman, Bill Hader, Jane Lynch, Sigourney Weaver, Jeffrey Tambor, and Joe Lo Truglio.

Confirmed special features for the Paul Blu-ray include:
Feature Commentary with director Greg Mottola, stars Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Bill Hader and producer Nira Park.
Between the Lightning Strikes: The Making of Paul
RV Doorway: The Cast of Paul On-Location
Runway Santa Fe: An Interview with Nancy Steiner: Featurette with Nancy Steiner, the film's costume designer.
Smithereens: Featurette with the cast.
5th Date Level Direction: The Cast on Greg Mottola: Featurette focusing on the cast's impressions of director Greg Mottola.
Mexico Zero: The Locations of Paul: Featurette- Mexico Zero is the nickname the cast gives to New Mexico, where the majority of filming was done for Paul.
The Many Pauls: Featurette chronicling the processes used in the creation of the CGI Paul character.
Paul: The Musical: Featurette showing the cast joining together for an impromptu musical version of the film.
The Traveler Beagle: A look at all the different RVs used on the set of Paul, from fully functioning vehicles to a mock-up on a Hollywood soundstage.
The Evolution of Paul: Featurette which gives an inside look at how Paul became a living, breathing alien.
Simon's Silly Faces
Who the Hell is Adam Shadowchild?: Featurette on the Jeffrey Tambor character.

Universal will also offer a bonus movie download with the purchase of the Paul Blu-ray. The streaming download is redeemable via their MY MOVIES feature, which makes additional content available for internet-connected Blu-ray players. Titles available with this offer are unknown.

For those that want this almost 2 months sooner, and in a nice steelbook, you can import the UK release....

I'd love to have the film 2 months early and the steelbook does look awesome, but I just love the Universal box art and general packaging. Maybe I'll get both?!?

Really, Amazon? 28 bucks?

That UK steel book is roughly the same price and it comes out next week. Not a hard decision.

Yeah its a really simple decision to make when you're completely ignorant in regards to Amazon's preorder policies.

It's rated R. So it wouldn't be wise to get it for kids.

I'm stoked to see the Unrated cut. Can't wait.

Not the dreaded blue border again. You are killing me Uni with those slipcovers. I miss the old styled slips.

I believe we all ready have a thread on this. Also, I have the UK release on Pre-Order and it comes out June 13th. I'll take the UK release and save myself about two months.

AWESOME! Day 1 for me as well. Saw it theatrically and loved it. I was a bit surprised that the majority of the laughs came from Seth Rogen's voice acting and the animation of Paul rather than from Pegg and Frost, but i still loved it. Was pretty bummed that the reveal of
[Show spoiler]Sigourney Weaver
was spoiled in the commercials. Though i guess i could tell immediately by the sound of
[Show spoiler]her voice on the phone with Bateman's character
. I bet this will be a killer blu! There are some surprisingly great action scenes in this.

Hot Fuzz and The World's End are both great. I like Hot Fuzz the most of all four.

You've never seen Hot Fuzz?!! Get that s**t as soon as possible. Amazing movie. Also if you haven't seen The Worlds End get on it. Run Fatboy Run is okay but not one of his best and How to Lose Friends and Alienate People is a personal favorite. I haven't seen A Fantastic Fear of Everything yet.
