The UK release also includes a "Director's Cut", which uses simulated film damage to edit out most of the animal violence. Deodato used to defend the acts, saying he grew up on a farm and that killing animals was an every day part of his life back then. He feels differently now, though, and I guess that's his right to change his mind. I don't mind him signing off on a slightly less icky cut years later on strictly moral grounds, so long as the uncut version is preserved for posterity. BIRTH OF A NATION and TRIUMPH OF THE WILL haven't exactly aged without moral misgivings of their own, but censoring them would only undermine their importance for future generations, and suggest that controversial and even philosophically rotten material can't be important, and I don't for a second think that's the case. |

This will be the 4th time that I buy this classic, and first time on blu ray. The Grindhouse release will hopefully be THE ONE. It will also be my first Grindhouse blu, although having recently seen The Swimmer, I'm thinking about picking that up
As far as Cannibal Holocaust goes, we have a cover, now please can we have a release date and specs ? Oh, and a release date for Fulci's Beyond, please. |

Dang. Thought it was finally announced/dated. Interesting cover. I guess the movie never had amazing poster art but is that really going to be the final art? It seems pretty "heavy" and disturbing. I know this isn't going to be on shelves in B&M stores but geez. Anyway, hopefully this is GR's next announced title. The Swimmer is coming out so there should be another announcement from them soon. It would be cool if this and Ferox released the same day or month.

I'm glad there's confirmation but I'd rather them not announce street dates until everything is set in stone. Better not to be expecting something by a certain date and have that date come around and suddenly there's a delay (like with The Swimmer).
