That's good news for fans of the film. Hopefully the audio and picture quality will be just as good as Shout's blu.

I'll have to keep an eye on this German release. I never picked up the U.S. release as I still prefer the extended ending. Here's hoping for an unlikely region free release.

Actually don't! The German release is a total rip-off and the advertising BS. It's in fact far from being the extended version and is actually shorter than the short version...

I prefer the Unrated version so it's a shame that German BD was a butchered bust.

They say it's gonna be uncut (compared to the old German version) but it's not clear whether or not it will feature the full unrated extended cut (which I also prefer and saw on the big screen back in the day)...

Picked this up quite some time ago, but hadn't written any words on here about it. Watched it last night and thought the audio and video quality were pretty darn solid. Dolph does really well and even is pretty comical at times. I've always enjoyed the car chase sequences as they give an excellent sense of speed; even if they are faux Ferrari and Lamborghini cars

I am still not sold on a few of the changes made for this cut, though. I'll admit, the added fight scene between Severence and Rudy at the end carries on too long, and the editing is choppy in parts; however, I think the video surveillance scene should have definitely stayed, as Cepeda's remark about the cameras carries little weight without. I also find the ending where Dolph and Rita have their goodbye discussion rather awkward. Thought it worked better in the alternate ending. Just my thoughts. Too bad about no seamless branching, but I shall live .

Anyway, solid release for Dolph fans. Nice to see this, Dark Angel, and Red Scorpion get quality releases domestically.

Actually the shorter version that's on the Blu-ray is the original final cut of the film, before they decided to tie it together better (the video surveillance) and go back for one day or two of reshoots (you can tell Dolph's hair change on some shots) to intensify the climax (a little light opposed to the garage gunfight sequence).

I also think the extended cut (which is the one I saw in theatres) is the best, especially regarding the more downbeat and open ending...

I wonder if Shout might one day release this on 4K now that Dark Angel got one? Although, it does appear the market is larger for that title compared to Joshua Tree. Would be nice if they could offer both versions of the film via seamless branching.
