I kind of liked the movie it was like a good middle between the old series and the new series. It is kind of hard to think that it was that version of the Doctor who fought in the Time War though. For me I watched a marathon on the Sci Fi channel a couple of years ago, maybe 2006/2007 and I started with The Empty Child as my first ever episode and watched the marathon all the way through to Christmas Invasion in one sitting and ever since then I have been hooked so I can say Christopher Eccleston was definitely a good choice for that season.

The funny thing is just a few weeks or so prior to that first marathon I stumbled upon Christmas Invasion probably right after it was first aired maybe anyways I had heard about Doctor Who so I tuned in to see what it was about, and I hated it at first I watched maybe ten minutes and changed the channel and thought ok this show sucks. So when I started watching the Empty Child, which I came in on mid episode and thought it was a movie or something and once I found out it was doctor who my fist thought was wow this is good how come that other episode was crap so I stuck around to find out. Needless to say I was so confused by how they had a different doctor to the guy I had seen briefly that one day before all this. wow so I guess David Tennant was my first Doctor and at first I hated him and the show it took watching the ninth doctor turning into the tenth to get me to accept him.

Then when I actually watched the whole episode in that marathon by the end of the episode I had already adjusted to the new doctor and that was about the time I started to get what made this show so cool. Ever since then I have gone back and started from the start and just barely made it through the first doctor and don't have anything on the second doctor yet looks like from what I can gather most of his stuff was lost like the first.

So far I have seen the first doctor, then 8-11 pretty much in order and I have to say I am really liking the new season a lot. Also if it wasn't for Doctor Who I would not have discovered Torchwood which is also awesome.

The Time War was offscreen during the McGann incarnation? Now that would make an awesome mini-series celebration for 50th anniversary.

A look back to Doctor #8...

I'm not sure that the two can even be remotely compared to each other - The X-Files had (mostly!) high quality writing and excellent production values. Torchwood is the complete opposite.

We're definitely watching different shows. Torchwood is awesome. While I liked the X-files, I prefer Torchwood. Especially intense stories like "Children of Earth".

Torchwood has never had an "X-files" Season 8/9 travesty.

Complete opposite? Torchwood has some really good writing and CoE was one of the best written stories in television if you were fully able to grasp and understand it of course. Torchwood has never had a bad season yet while X-Files has. like SpaceDog mentioned.

I wouldn't really compare Torchwood to X-Files anyway.

They are in a similar genre... and may share some fans... but Torchwood is really not X-Files.

Another amazing episode. So happy that
[Show spoiler]the CIA girl from the plan "died" and was very creepy to see her walking with her head turned the other way.
Interesting to learn that
[Show spoiler]people are still aging just not dying and that cut opened arm was pretty cool.

Wonder if that
[Show spoiler]gay guy from the plan is Jack's new love interest or if it's someone we have yet to meet.
Very cool seeing
[Show spoiler]Jack and Gwen in an American airport and complaining about the escape car.

[Show spoiler]It's already been said that Jack hooks up again this season. Chances are it's just a fling/one time thing and nothing serious like it was with Ianto but it does happen.

[Show spoiler]Yeah I was hoping they wouldn't as I thought it was to soon but it's been implied Jack has already hooked up as seen in The End of Time Part 2 so it's not that soon.

Yeah the whole part with Jack and Gwen talking about how
[Show spoiler]bad the getaway car was funny and smartly written IMO.

Yeah the BD will be released early 2012 unfortunately. Started a thread for it today but not much news besides early 2012. I just need season 2 on BD. Would love for it to get a special edition or something cool but doubt it.

I've heard a few s*** here and there and I swear I heard Rhys say the F word at the very beginning but with his accent and others talking I couldn't make it out clear if he said that or not. The first 3 seasons didn't have any major swearing though besides the one Owen said in Countrycide and the normal a** and s*** so I wasn't expecting the swearing to really be upped this season.

The part where I'm sure Rhys said it was when Rex
[Show spoiler]said they were going to be taken to the US and Rhys said they are UK citizens on UK soil and Rex said he didn't care.

Torchwood: Miracle Day' grabs nearly 5m in UK

Quote:
Series four of Torchwood launched with nearly 5m viewers on Thursday evening
while the US version of The Killing slumped to 1.5m, according to the latest audience data.

Torchwood: Miracle Day, starring John Barrowman, premiered with 4.83m (21.1%) on BBC One in the 9pm hour, down by more than 1m viewers on the opening of series three.

However, the Doctor Who spinoff proved too strong for the opening of series two of crime drama Single Handed, which entertained 3.5m (15.4%) on ITV1 from 9pm and 204k (1.2%) on +1.
Happy it did well in the UK and hope it picks up more viewers and the US ratings don't drop so we can get a 5th season. Will be interesting to see if Miracle Day can surpass CoE in terms of viewers for the UK.
