When most other companies offer combo packs for 19.99 during release week, yes, I do think paying an extra $5 for a DVD for a total of $24.99 is way too much. I don't really know why this release bucked the usual trend. Strange.

Actually, combo packs from WB, Paramount, Sony, Universal, and/or Fox are rarely $19.99 on release day/week. I think the cheaper combo packs this week are just a residual of the holiday shopping season.

It is very rare for a combo pack to exceed $22.99 the first week.

There are many that are $19.99 for Holiday seasons and other promotions.

but this movie was far too expensive. Hoping for a drop soon so I can start using my gift cards. I'd pay $15 for this

That's sometimes true, but most of those are usually 2 disc Blu ray PLUS a DVD, and those usually are $24.99 or cheaper. So a single disc blu ray and a dvd at $24.99 seems like a rip off. Granted some of those 2 disc Blus plus DVD combos can be a ripoff sometimes also because bonus material on the 2nd blu ray can usually still fit on one blu ray, but that's a whole other rant.

I know I'm kinda *****ing a lot but I just find the whole thing kinda funny. If Sony had been lame and put all the bonus material on a second disc instead of the first and offered the DVD as well, I doubt you'd have many questioning why they priced this at $24.99. In most consumers minds, more discs equals greater value, so they justify the higher price tag. So it seems kind of perplexing that the studios or the retailers thought this would be a good idea to have such a higher premium for what is essentially just a DVD, and not another disc of bonus features. The "evils" of marketing I guess.

I don't have stats. but 2 disc combos usually end up $19.99 somewhere on release day.

The only thing that I can go on is that it's my experience that all year round you see it happen more often than not.

3 disc sets are a different beast. Still, $22.99 is the price I usually see when it doesn't go down to $19.99. Not the $24.99 Amazon is charging. Either way, this film is not a huge want and it comes in a single disc with all the special features that is bound to drop, so I'm not fretting things.

Honestly, smaller, indie films are often the ones that don't get a discount, so I'm still thrilled from getting the Another Earth combo for $19.99. I don't think that was holiday pricing either.

I can't recall too many $24.99 price tags for anything not 3-D.

The Help went down to $19.99, but I got the 3 disc set as a gift. So, being that this is a slow month for me, one reason I'd blind buy Friends with Benefits combo for $19.99, the one and only other chance to see combo pack pricing will be Dolphin Tale.

I read that Target was going to have an extra exclusive disc with bonus material. Does anyone know if this release actually exists?

It does. There's info back on page 3 of this thread.

They're probably close to being gone at your local Target, if not gone already. I picked up 1 of the last 2 at my local store last night.

I thought this movie was only worth a rental. Timberlake and Kunis have good chemistry, but a lot of what the script has them do feels forced. Woody's character is one-note and his schtick gets tired fast. It is a bit more clever than your typical Hollywood rom-com since it tries to be meta (by mocking romantic comedy tropes), but I would not recommend a blind buy, especially at $24.99. In a nutshell, I enjoyed watching it, but I don't think I'll feel the need to revisit it.

Apparently they just put them out yesterday at my Target. They still had a lot of them... like 8 or so.

I had a weird thought while watching this movie.

Okay, so Mila and Justin become sex friends. Then we learn some of their backgrounds:
[Show spoiler]she doesn't know who her dad is and his dad still pines for the girl that got away and that was part of the reason his wife divorced him.
. Did anyone think for a minute that they were going to reveal at the end
[Show spoiler]that they were actually brother and sister
? Now there's your movie.

go watch KaBoom
[Show spoiler]that happens in the movie, the guy has this girl as a sex buddy and they find out that she was his half sister.
anyways, Kaboom is a brilliant movie in my eyes, in others, not so much.

This was playing on the movie channel, got to see it this afternoon. Cute and not as boring as I feared it would be. Not something I will bother to buy or probably care to see again but it's not a bad movie.

I agree...I watched it on a free "Starz" weekend...(thru DIRECTV).

The only reason I might buy it is.... that "HOT" Mila Kunis !

I can't believe she was dating that "Home Alone" kid.

Just caught this on cable, and though I was not expecting to be, I was impressed! Very clever & humorous writing, and some decent acting, though the subject matter falls on the lighter side.

Great soundtrack, too.

I hated
[Show spoiler]flash mobs until now. I still hate 'em, but I like the context they're used in,
in this film.

Think I'm going to pick up the blu.

Holy crap, Justin Timberlake's body in 1080p. This movie is a lot better after the second viewing IMO
