I noticed in the UK thread that Underworld54 reported receiving his replacement discs. I just received my discs today (Feb. 29). It was shipped on Feb. 27. Apparently, they attempted delivery on Feb. 28, but I wasn't home at the time.

The discs were inside a folded FedEx Express "Padded Pak" (bubble wrap envelope), which in turn was inside a FedEx Express "Small Box" (cardboard). Unlike the plastic clamshell cases that were reported in the UK thread, the discs were inside individual white paper sleeves with a cellophane window. They were all held together with a rubber band, along with a shipping receipt and a printout of an Amazon.com gift card for $10 (presumably this is to reimburse the shipping costs, which was around $7 for me).

BTW, here's the return address on the invoice attached to the box (FYI only--don't send your discs to this address): Microplant Grace Torres, Deluxe Digital Studio, 2400 W. Empire Avenue, Burbank, CA, 91504. They got my address right, but strangely enough, my postal code was wrong by one letter on the shipping receipt inside the box.

Okay, now the important part: how does it look? I've checked out only the "Time" and "Space" special features on Disc 1. With the defective disc, I had to really bump up the contrast, brightness and sharpness in order to see the grainier lower-half. With the replacement disc, that is no longer present and everything looks uniform.
Great to hear, I'm glad you're happy with the replacements. I do apologize for not posting here that I got mine. I guess I thought everyone was following the UK thread. So once again I'm sorry for that guys. I'll post my thoughts when I view some scenes on Saturday, not that I need too since I definitely trust your judgement hammermill. But I'll give mine a look anyway.

Does anyone have a list of time stamps I can check out? I'm about to look at my corrected discs.

I looked over episodes and special features from each disc and everything looks pretty good. My hope for Season 7 is that they film using cameras that handle low lighting conditions better. There is so much video noise during low lighting conditions during Series 6.

I just rewatched this on dvd from my library and the pq is excellent. Much better than the grainy blu-rays I had bought. I'm not sure why this would be.

There was a fault on the original BDs that caused half the screen to have a strong 'grainy effect', which could be the reason why you think the DVD looks better.

Have the corrected discs been included in recent box sets yet? Is there any way to check before you buy the set?

This set is now $19.99 at Best Buy! I had been wanting to get this season for a while now, and when I saw it for that price I had to get it. And I have to say, the PQ is absolutely brilliant!

I looked though the episodes that were said to have the faults, and I noticed no defects.

I don't think there is a way to tell from the packaging. If someone wants to post their codes printed on their discs I'll be happy to check them against my corrected copies.

BestBuy currently has the series six set for $19.99. I wish Amazon would pricematch.

Can you walk in and get it for that price? If so, I'll have to drop in on Sunday -- it's sold out, online.

If they haven't price matched yet then they probably aren't going to at all. It's been $19.99 at BB since 11/25.

Yeah. Considering this has been on sale for almost two weeks, don't be surprised if the price goes back up on Sunday though.

I can't because BestBuy stores in Puerto Rico all refuse to acknowledge the prices on the website. It's store policy and no exceptions.

Yeah, I just ordered it at Amazon for $23.49.

Walked into Best Buy this morning and they had the set as part of a "Great TV Deals" display on the side for $19.99, no need to price match. I did get the last copy, however, and I expect that many stores will be out of stock; that price is just too good to pass up.

Hi everyone. I recently picked up a copy of Series 6 (Blu-ray) at Best Buy, and I want to check if the discs in the set are the corrected discs or the old (faulty) discs. Does anyone have the corrected discs, who'd be willing to post the disc code for comparison?

On disc 1 (the "Christmas Carol" special disc), the codes I see on the back of the disc are:

OUTER ring: (473103) 7000047880 1 01E 03001

INNER ring: (473104) 7000047880 1 01E 02001

********
On disc 3 (the disc with the problematic "Rebel Flesh" and "Almost People"), the codes are:

OUTER ring: (473107) 7000047882 1 01E 03001

INNER ring: ((473108) 700007882 1 01E 04001

********
Can anyone confirm if these are the corrected discs or the faulty ones?

5th season is awesome on BD. I just picked up the 6th for $23--can't wait for it to come in!

Aside from the dismantling of River Song's character, this season is pretty great.

Just wish series 1-4 were filmed like this. Oh well.

So a quick update for others wondering if the newer sets include the corrected discs or the faulty ones:

I bought the series 6 blu-ray at Best Buy a week ago, and checked the Time and Space shorts, as well as the Rebel Flesh (at 30:31) on my laptop, and the grainy lower half is still evident if I crank up the screen brightness. Not really enough to be a terrible distraction, but it's still there. So either Best Buy is still selling old stock from the defective batches, or BBC is still printing defective discs in their newer batches.

Again, can anyone with the corrected discs post the disc code for comparison?

Here's the numbers on my corrected disc 1:
1675752 D35E C0C6 C8D9 PA01
1675752 D35E C0C6 C8D9 PB01
Both sets of numbers were on the outer ring. I had no numbers on the inner ring.
I think everyone should mail theirs away for the exchange. It's really quite fast and they reimburse your shipping cost with an amazon gift card code. You only send back the discs, no packaging.
