The reason I love Micro Monsters so much is because it offers a 3D view of the world that's impossible to see in reality. Generally speaking, whilst I love good natural 3D, what I really love is hyperstereo and hypostereo, it's the way that 3D can give you views of the world that are only possible via stereoscopy that I find genuinely thrilling - and it's views like this that I wish appeared more often in 3D films. Coincidentally, speaking of Micro Monsters (which are insects in this doc), I recently re-watched The Young and Prodigious TS Spivet which, amongst its (reference quality) 3D had a couple of brief hypostereo shots of insects.

I've come to realize that if the Attenborough name is attached (David or Richard) it's going to be enjoyable. Educational or entertaining, or sometimes both.

The only disappointment with an Attenborough 3D disc is when it's over. Every one of them is a joy to watch, not just in education but with outstanding 3D presentations.
