My friend who lives in the US for his work one year long isn't a Jim Carrey fan, he want to see it and thought it was one of the funniest movies in years. And I'm reading comments like that everywhere, next to the rotten ones. What's going on with this movie? It's great on one side, terrible on the other.

I didn't like the Will Ferrell movies of the same kind, it this comes close ... damn, I want to see it for myself but Belgium has no release dat yet.

I thought it was funny & a good film. Made fun of the "new" breed of street magicians like Criss Angel & David Blaine. Also mocked magicians in general to some extent.

Played on
[Show spoiler]Criss Angel's "Mind Freak."

I liked
[Show spoiler]Burt Wonderstone's apathy towards sex, assistants & the way he treated others. Wonder how far from the truth that is for some superstars who get everything they desire (for a while)

The movie had its moments. Would watch again.I had high hopes for this movie seeing as this was one of Jim Carrey's first "stupid" comedy in a while. He delivered but Steve Carrell i feel fell flat. It might just be that I'm used to him as Michael Scott.

I don't think it mocked magicians. If anything, it glorified them a bit, and made them seem much more interesting. It might've mocked the "Steve Gray" type, but not the classic "rabbit out of a hat" magician.

Then again, I didn't think it was a good film like you did, so we can disagree on everything

Carell was definitely miscast here. He's a great actor, but I don't think he pulled off the egotistic womanizer very well. I wish Jim would've agreed to play Burt like was intended. Then someone like Colin Farrell could've played Gray

I actually feel like Jim Carrey's scenes were the worst and least funny. I think Olivia Wilde was the best part of the movie (and I'm not talking about her good looks, I just liked her character best). Steve Buscemi was also criminally underused.

did I feel asleep on it or when was it established that Olivia Wilde's character wanted her own show? On the whole I thought the movie was pretty mediocre, there were some funny bits, but ultimately pretty vapid.
