This thread concerns deep love for coffee. Love for single origin or well blended, manual dripped or pressed, burr ground coffee.
Many people are using Chemex or Hario pour over/drippers. I am still hung up on my French press. I want to get into manual drip, but do French press at work for convenience. I use a nice Bodum burr grinder, and press. I think this is a nice start, with the option to get into manual drip. I am in love with Intelligentsia, Paradise, Ritual, Kaldis, and Goshen beans. Mainly because that is what I can get really fresh and the beans are great. I need a nice electric kettle, any recommendations? Last edited by JasonR; 01-25-2012 at 03:51 AM. |

I use a Capresso (I think it's called) grinder.
Basically as long as it's a CONICAL BURR GRINDER, you're alright. The discs ones aren't bad, but conical burr grinders are the best. (Anything else is just a coffee chopper!!!) EDIT: I've never heard of anyone refer to "French Press" in terms of convenience!!! I have a crappy (Cuisinart) manual-drip maker, but it keeps working like a champ, so I haven't felt the need to replace it. It does a seemingly good-enough job, but obviously the taste is very different from French Press (but I prefer it to French-press for a "To-Go" mug of coffee in the car etc.) |

I loves me a good cup(s) o' Joe in the morning. I prefer a darker, more flavorful roast. There's a local coffee shop not too far from me that roasts their own beans several times a week. Good stuff.
I like the idea of a French Press. But in the morning, it's all about convenience. I use the Capresso MT500 coffee maker [Show spoiler] and the KitchenAid Pro Line burr grinder.[Show spoiler] They make a mighty fine pot of gold, if I do say so, myself.![]() |

French press is fairly simple for me. Dump in grounds and water, wait, drink. Cleanup can be a pain though. Is manual drip quite a bit easier? Do you use an electric kettle? I need something for work.

I love coffee.
Ever since I came to the US. I was struggling to adopt to American style coffee (you know, the one that is server in a huge 300-500 ml+ cup full of flavors, sugar, milk etc. that destroy the taste and smell of original coffee, not to mention that there is too much water and the coffee is not too strong). I ended up visiting Starbucks too often, and you know that an Espresso is over $2 and Doppio Espresso is $2.56 as of today. Nesspresso Espresso Maker is a fast and convenient way to enjoy espresso. This machine is very small and it is super easy to fill the water well. I like how fast it brews it is about half of the time of the Keurig. Although do not confuse this as an alternative to a Keurig. The Nesspresso steams the pods. It is a very load machine. |

Definitely into coffee like my fellow posters above me...
I use a Keurig for all my coffee needs, rarely buy coffee to go from 7-Eleven or Dunkin Donuts ever since I bought my machine around 5 years ago...never cared for Starbucks... I dig Newman's extra bold Keurig cups, I get a 100 pack for $47 plus tax from Costco. I also enjoy the 7-Eleven Keurig cups, especially the Columbian flavor. I also enjoy Folgers Gourmet Supreme that I buy in the container...I will stock up on Folgers when the big container is 7-8 bucks in the store... |

My folks use the base Encore model for a coffee grinder; it works very well, and I plan on buying one myself or putting it on a Christmas list within the next couple of years. We use a pretty basic pour over with hot water for our locally-purchased coffee beans after grinding them. Far better than your typical Mr. Coffee drip with some pre-ground Peet's.

I've been toying with a Chemex for a while now, I know my Cuisinart brewer has lots of endocrine disruptors and synthetic chemicals in the components that I don't want in my coffee but I need to save up a little more for the Chemex to get a pour kettle also and the filters.
For coffee though, this stuff is THE BOMB! ![]() For those that don't know, here's the Chemex: ![]() |

I really wanted the Technivorm, but didn't want to shell out that kind of money. After doing a bunch of research I went with the Bonavita BV1900TS. Almost as good for half the price and it's SCAA certified. Plus you can use a Chemex with it and turn it into an Ottomatic.

Hi, I cannot wake up in the morning without couple of cups of coffee. I make it myself or my bf makes it for me in the cezve. It comes stronger and more flavorful.
