I am very happy that Disney went ahead and added Aladdin into the Diamond Edition Blu-Ray Line.
For a few years I heard that Disney was not going to include Aladdin in the Diamond Edition Line because The 2004 Platinum Edition DVD sold two million copies in one year whereas The 2001 Platinum Edition DVD of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs sold two million copies in one week. Well I am very happy that Disney has decided to include Aladdin in the Diamond Edition Blu-Ray Line. It is truly a Disney Masterpiece that deserves to be given The Ultimate Treatment for Blu-Ray Disc. By the way, I recently watched The 2004 Platinum Edition DVD of Aladdin on New Years Eve in 2011, and The Picture Quality was still pretty damn good, and the audio was simply reference quality. I am aware of Aladdin being dropped from Diamond Status, which of course now it is being a Diamond release anyways. I was referencing how it was supposedly coming out this year and not 2013. I wonder if Disney actually reads what we write on here sometimes and goes by that. I mean what reason would they have to put Aladdin out as a Diamond release, except to make fans happy?? |

I was just about to write the same thing! The direct-to-video sequel combos don't bother me because they aren't theatrical canon, but Rescuers Down Under is, and I would like to be able to put it in its proper release order on my shelf. I guess I should be happy we're getting both Rescuers films on blu-ray, but my OCD won't allow it!

The sequels have been already out, they were just repackaged, they didn't spend time with them. They were done by the other animation studio when lion king 3d was being done.

![]() ![]() I have once collected every Disney animation until "Home on the Range" on DVD and arranged it chronologically (except Fantasia 2000) It just looked incredible and was pride & joy of my collection. I was hoping I could do the same thing with Blu-ray, but it's not going to happen now ![]() I'm disappointed but I think I could live with it. BUT I really hope it will not effect the quality of the release. Fox & the Hound had both films on only 1 disc with some extras available only on DVD. Also it was the first Disney animation where I felt Disney didn't do proper remastering. It definitely looked far better than DVD, but the shimmering line on the right side was incredibly disappointing ![]() |

I, too, arrange my Disney animated classics chronologically, but I'm not annoyed at both Rescuers films being packaged together. I'll just stick the BD inbetween The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and The Fox and the Hound and allow The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast to be side by side (which is rather nice since the big four of the Disney renaissance will be seen together).
I'm really excited over this wave of releases and will be buying them all. It's interesting how The Aristocats is the last of the summer releases (presumably) yet it already has a release date and trailer while Pocahontas and The Rescuers (which I assume are coming June and July) don't. Pocahontas and The Rescuers Down Under should both look incredible since they were digitally inked and filed. Hopefully the restoration work on Aristocats and Rescuers holds up. Aladdin is what I'm most excited for and am thrilled to see it back in the Diamond lineup. That means there'll be a plethora of merchandising tie-ins that I'll be taking full advantage of. I do wonder what this means for Peter Pan (another title I've been anxious for), but perhaps Pan's been dropped from the Diamond lineup and will be released in its own 60th Anniversary Edition ala Alice in Wonderland February of 2013 or something. From what I understand, Peter Pan's Platinum DVD wasn't a big seller, so that would make sense. I'm still tapping my feet and wondering about The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, though. |

I organize my releases by Platinum blu-rays, than diamond edition blu-rays with the respective sequels next to them, and than i go to the ones i like in order, and than i have pixar blu-rays after that in order of liking, with sequels next to them.
EDIT i totally forgot about tarzan!!! Last edited by disneyfreak; 01-25-2012 at 10:51 PM. |
