Like I said previously the R&C games hold up much better than most PS2 games and I had a heckuva good time playing them.

I had originally planned to play them sparingly, but after I beat and platted the first game I just kept playing and got all 3 platinums two weeks later!
I also plan on getting the other two. I only got the first one, because it was $2 or $4 with PS+, and it was a game to waste time with between games I really wanted.

The first one was good but the next two are even better! I started the first one as a time waster too, but just kept playing and playing until I got the plat for all 3.

After all how can you NOT love a game that has a weapon which turns enemies into chickens that lay exploding eggs?!

True, but equally true is that I never really felt like I was playing a last generation game, even at the end of this one. You say it holds up well, but it holds its own against some recent games.

Yep! As I said, it gets even better!

Just don't rush through them. Sometimes its more fun to grind through and give your weapons a chance to level up.

Started #2 today. Am I correct that they messed with the aiming mechanism? When using L1, I can only pan up and down, not left and right. It was bad enough in #1 that you could not change the aiming camera controls to normal rather than bassackwards old-time rudder style.

In R&C2 you can strafe, which is a BIG deal.

I don't of this camera problem you speak of.

LOL!

I was using the right stick instead of the left stick for first person aiming.

But it's deceiving, because the right stick will still let you move the reticle vertically, just not horizontally.

Yeah I wasn't a fan of that, but the game was never unplayable.

The only thing I HATED were the hacking mini games in Going Commando and especially Up Your Arsenal. Those were just not fun if you ask me.

Flying races are giving me fits. I don't hold out hope for collecting all the platinum bolts. The nanos and bolts you get with the glider were a bear enough, and that nano on Snivelak I still can't get after about 50 tries. I guess this is a little old school. I've been spending bolts on weapons instead of armor, and man Snivelak was a tough level.

Those parts are hard. Personally I found the races in 2 to be tougher than the races in part 1. Mainly because it was far too easy to miss the boosts.

Beat it tonight. I was surprised and a bit disappointed. I did not think I was already at the end, and the boss was less of an ordeal than the routine play of the two preceding levels. I had to beat him twice, since I died at the same instant he did the first time. But I did not start challenge mode, since I wasn't ready to finish the game.

R and C the first was a much more casual game than this. This is actually hard sometimes. I don't think this game is necssarily accessible to a casual gamer. Some things are an absolute nuisance, in particular the crystals and raritanium where all those polar bear/yetis live underground. I did not want to do that crap in challenge mode.

Beat the stupid game and there is still so much to do. I have no hope of hitting all those damn rings in the spaceship races. Those are the only platinum bolts I don't have.

I was surprised at how easy this game was. I didn't have ANY trouble, but it could be due to the fact that I grinded out all weapon upgrades and grinded out enough bolts to buy the RYNO and Carbinox armor.

Yeah, I don't have a RYNO or Carbonox yet. And I still have one weapon to upgrade...the Hoverbomb. Dreadfully slow. I'm not sure what makes it level...damage or kills? If it's kills, protopets should be quick, but it does not seem to work that way. Doesn't matter much, anyway. All of that is just grinding away, and it's pointless, if I can't unlock the last three platinum bolts. I still can't even win the spaceship race that's inside the space station. And the other two I can't do better than 8 or 10 missed rings. Everything else, save a couple of skill points, that will be easier after grinding, is done. Hoverbike races were fine.

I thought the flight races in Just Cause 2 were hard, but this is brutal. Game flying is definitely not my forte.

OK!

Finished the stupid platinum for RC2. I don't think this was easier than RC1, except for the end boss, which was much easier than Drek and not a challenge with standard weapons. The enemies took more damage and did more damage, and those stupid soldiers and yetis that respawned over and over and over again were just silly. And the spaceship races were insane, trying to fly through every single ring. Those races were poor. There were times where you obviously hit the ring but did not get credit and others where you obviously missed it and did. Farming bolts in challenge mode though was awesome with the multiplier. Took only a little while to get enough to by Carbonox, RYNOII and Zodiac, which I did not have in first game.

I should have downloaded RC3 ahead of time. It's going to take about 6-8 hours, I think. That reminds me, fiber installations in the area did get delayed over the dispute about utility pole ownership.

Yep, it seems like you caught the fever like I did!

After I finished the first one, I figured I would start the second one and I never put it down.

Same with the third one.

Once you play the third one GRIND out as many weapon upgrades as possible. At level 5 so many of them are just so badass, except for the whip. That weapon sucks so much ass. However, you will need them in the arena battles so grind them out as much as possible.

Btw, the quack o ray is the greatest R&C weapon in the entire series USE that one like crazy to level it up. Turning enemies into chickens that lay exploding eggs is GREAT.

Up your Arsenal is the least fun of the three. Much buggier, for sure, and there is emphasis on arena battles and side missions, which detract from the open platforming/action that made the first two so much fun. The Qwark comic minigames really, really suck, and getting those timed skill points is going to be my madness, much as the spaceship racing was in RC2. Those are some really, really bad minigames with a poorly conceived control scheme.

Up Your Arsenal IMO has the best of the best and the worst of the worst in the R&C series. The weapons, humor and level design were all top notch if you ask me. I did miss some of the platforming from the first game and I didn't mind the grinding sequences from 1 and 2.

Save the Arena games for the end. Seriously. You will drive yourself mad trying to beat them at lower levels. The best time to tackle the arena battles are once you get the Qwack-O-Ray upgraded to level 5. Seriously that is the best weapon to use. You can easily get through 80 of the 100 rounds using just that. The level called Crash site is one of the ABSOLUTE best to upgrade your guns and weapons.

Im with you, the hacking games just plain suck so much donkey balls. Oh I hated it. Same with the timed Qwark challenges, but once you get them you won't think they were THAT bad. Just don't attempt to do them until you have already gotten all the life refills.

Those vid comic minigames are all I have left, other than challenge mode. I can't even find all tokens on my own. I have all of the other titanium bolts, all of the other skill points, all of the weapon upgrades you can get in game one. I figured the Crash Site for weapons on my own. If you die purposely before the checkpoint, the ninjas invading the Phoenix are also very, very good for weapon upgrades.
