Would be funny if Orbis was a Kinect clone and just an add-on. I'm not buying, too old for Kinect.. My joints can't do it. My kid likes Fruit Ninja for a good energy burner.

WTF??? Orbis sounds like four?? Is the person that wrote that a complete idiot?

Orbis is actually Latin for circle, mix that with Vita...Circle of life.

I'll wait until there are cold hard facts before passing judgement Not being backwards compatible with PS3 would be a bugger though because I have more games for that than I've had for any other console (and I've pretty much had them all). If it's true I'll have to make sure I play all my stacked PS3 games before it goes out of production, another 10 years might be enough time

Me either, but if digital is the only option for games, or games have no re-sell, you will be if you wanted any of them.

People would just buy them at plenty of other stores that do sell consoles but not used games (granted Best Buy sells used games I think but they'd still sell a system that doesn't).

I read that as well and laughed. I couldn't figure out how it sounded like four, I tried pronouncing it several ways,... just didn't work.

They will go the way of Game group eventually.

None of the Publishers gave a flying fcuk when Game were in trouble. Especially Nintendo and EA.

If GS ever get in money troubles they can kiss their ass goodbye because not one single publisher will be willing to help them out.

Games depreciate in value on Steam. There are also Steam sales just like PSN and Xbox Live Marketplace sales. Making the move towards a better digital download space is not the end of reduced pricing on older titles.

And games have been moving towards being locked to accounts for a while now. It already happened on the PC. Consoles were just playing catch up.

You are absolutely correct. But that still doesn't address the issue for those consumers who don't have constant access to the interwebs.

It'll be like any other new generation. At first, yes I'll buy a few games at the initial launch price. However once I obtain enough games (usually 4 or 5 titles) to keep me busy, I'll play those until other games start coming down in price. The last game I bought full price for at launch was Skyrim, which I think is worth it considering I'm STILL playing it.

But they are the largest and most widespread games retailer, and them not selling the console would mean an significant dent into the manufactuers' profits. And any potental early adopters (usually the hardcore, who are more informative) might also be turned off by the anti used games situation. Either way, the companies need to man up in providing a better service, than to just put edible gold foil with no nutritional value on their plate.

But that's the problem. They won't ever come down in price. There might be an occasional "sale", but if there's no re-sell or it's all digital, prices will not lower, just look at the current status and we do have physical alternatives. And you can't compare this to PC games since the market couldn't be more different.

First of all, it won't be all digital. Just forget about that. Second, of course they'll go down in price when sales of those titles start slowing down. It's really no different than it is now on PSN. I see game prices slashed on PSN all the time, once they've been on the store for so long.

The way I gather it, you'll be able to use the game on your account no matter what console your account is active on. Therefore, the game can travel to whichever console you are using so long as the account is active on it.

The only question becomes... will they limit the umber of consoles your account can be active on? Since games will be permanently linked to your account, game/content-sharing will be rather difficult and annoying when a bunch of people keep logging you out of your own account so they can use what you shared with them.

Sounds like you SHOULD be able to bring games to a friends house, load your account, play, deactivate your account before leaving, go home, reactivate your account on your home PS3, and continue on your merry way with the game... no problem.

I guess the rumors were right about trying to negate the used game selling industry. I only heard information on the new Xbox did not hear the Playstation was doing the same thing.

You have? Like what? And remember there is no retail competition as an alternative, so no need for them to worry about charging 50-60 dollars for a game that is selling for $20 at Wal-Mart, because there is no Wal-Mart.
I think we're mixing up our arguments now. I was just speaking about the entirely digital thing. There's far too many sides to this "news" about a supposed future PlayStation. I'll simply say that if a company is able to do something, they will. Regardless of how much some don't like it. It would only take people completely boycotting something for any meaningful change to happen, and that never happens because people like their new toys no matter what.

Which then can't be limited to 2 like they are pulling now.

Yeah. That could be a pickle. But Sony and Microsoft could maybe be working with brick and mortar retailers to attach games to accounts on purchase? Like you have to carry a USB stick around.
