I enjoyed the 3D for what it was. When they were in the grid there were many times when the sense of depth was excellent and I thought the 3D was fantastic during the disc-throwing game and the light-cycles sequence. There were times in the movie when there was ZERO 3D effect...but they alerted you of this before the movie started saying that some of the scenes were done in 2D but to keep your glasses on throughout the entire movie. I suppose this was a stylistic choice. I, personally, was less impressed with the Pirates of Carribean OST preview. It looked awfully flat to me...the sense of depth seemed so slight and insignificant. I'll stick with my 2D copy of that Blu-Ray. |

Watched it last night. Not bad, but not great. Had some good moments, but didn't have any eye-popping effects for me. It is a lot better than Space Shuttle 3D. I would give it a 7/10 video and 9/10 audio. Probably give it a 6/10 for 3D effects. WOW factor, sorry, I could rate it, I didn't see any from this movie.

Finally saw IMAX Under the Sea 3D, which was a quality 3D doco. The famous Potato Cod shot was a little underwhelming to me, I mean it was great, but probably 300 shots like that in Sammy, so maybe that spoiled it a bit for me:P Jim Carrey's narration was sleep inducing, but the image was enough to keep me engaged. All the same, think I have enough 3D ocean documentaries for now, time for time to release some more land based ones I think!

transformers 3. pretty much the same presentation that i remember in the theater. great depth with not many pop outs. it did have tons of what i call "fly outs." rocks, sparks, and debris shot out of the screen. the clarity is amazing on this one. a great time for sure!

Some, with educational content, are for science museums, or, like here in Boston...for aquariums. (Although they haven't been above showing "T-Rex" in the past, just for the 3D. ![]() Last edited by EricJ; 02-04-2012 at 03:31 AM. |

Just watched BUGS. It was pretty good.
A spider was dangling pretty far out of the screen at one point. Had excellent depth. Watching a praying mantis eat a fly in 3d was pretty cool. ![]() On a side note, I saw IMAX: Born To Be Wild at an IMAX about 2 weekends ago. It was pretty amazing. Last edited by kris77; 02-20-2012 at 01:53 PM. |

We watched Fright Night again Friday - I love that movie. Not a lot of pop out but the depth looks great even for being so dark. And when a vampire hits light and bursts, the ashes look awesome, like they were floating around in the living room
![]() I still think my favorite shot of the movie is the intro song where they are flying over the desert and the movie title looks like it's make of 40ft lines of smoke isometric to the camera view. Very cool depth shot. |

Watched Legend of the Guardians 3D. Simply gorgeous and incredible to watch in 3D. The sense of depth in excellent and the pop-out effects were great. Little things like dust particles floating around, to the tip of an outstretched wing seemingly a foot in front of your face this is the best 3D I've seen since Avatar in terms of consistency. Avatar 3D, IMO, is known for having 3D visuals without sacrificing a bit of detail in the picture and Legend of the Guardians 3D is no different. The detail of the owls and the backgrounds is staggering...seemingly hundreds if not thousands of visibly individual feathers and hairs to grogeous backdrops of trees, hills, oceans. Just take my word for it, its quite breathtaking at times.
The movie itself on the other hand ![]() Anyway, PQ - 5/5 3D Effect - 5/5 AQ - 4/5 Movie - 3.5/5 |
