THE MUMMY'S SHROUD is...well, I like it more now than I did the first time I saw it. It's not great by any means, but if you like Michael Ripper and mummies, go for it.

RASPUTIN is considered one of Christopher Lee's best acted roles, and it really is. But it's not really a horror movie.

THE DEVIL RIDES OUT, though - it's among my favorite Hammer movies. Nearly perfect, IMO. Chris Lee as the protagonist, Charles Grey as the really evil antagonist (basically a take on Aleister Crowley), some really creepy events and directed by Hammer's best, Terence Fisher. Some complain about the effects, but I think they're tops! A bit adventurey mixed with horrorific storytelling, also takes place in the 20's or 30's, I think. Hard to go wrong with it.

Lots of spoilers in the trailers, so beware!

Has anyone had problems with the Quatermass extras. I recently got a region modded Oppo 83 and my TV goes to Mode not supported when I try to play the extras on this disc. My previous player, Momitsu 899 never had this problem and it played the extras on Dracula:POD, The Reptile and Plague of The Zombies.

Maybe, but I don't think that should be a problem. I'll check. The player converts as did my Momitsu.

Still, it makes me think of something I can check so thanks.

Figured it out. It was set to Multi-System. Had to make it NTSC to force the 50i to 60 conversion.

There are 25p/50i based extras on discs as these are region B releases.

I love The Devil Rides Out but I think the current price is extortionate for such an old film. Gonna wait this one out...unless there is a slip etc?

It does.

I really wish studio canal went with the original artwork for these releases, instead of some shoddy photoshop job.

I'm always doing that on my 95.

My 'Quatermass and the pit' came without a slipcover so haven't opened it up yet.

In early 2013, we're getting DRACULA aka THE HORROR OF DRACULA.

Other titles in 2013 are rumoured to include QUATERMASS II, THE QUATERMASS XPERIMENT, FRANKENSTEIN CREATED WOMAN, THE ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN, THE LEGEND OF THE SEVEN GOLDEN VAMPIRES THE WITCHES and CAPTAIN KRONOS VAMPIRE HUNTER.

This is very fair price as old film/source releases cost a LOT (lot means not 20%, but more like 500% or more) more to do than current ones. In some cases costs are like day and night. To be fair it's modern films, which should cost way less. Old films require 10x more work and whole process is very expensive.

Beside this- do you think that modern movies are worth more because they are current/modern? Most of them are total crap- there are more cool old movies than new ones.

Agreed. I understand people are strapped for cash but if we don't support catalogue releases by buying them full-price we genuinely make it less likely that they get produced. This is not the case for new releases, 99 percent of which will be released on Blu regardless.

You sound like me! Check my blu's and you will see what I mean.

Still seems a bit pricey but Ill probably buy it soon as I want the slipcase for a film like this.

I also think the price is a bit steep (£3-£4 more than Lawrence Of Arabia!), about right for The Curse Of Frankenstein, that's a good package & an important horror film, but too much for the other titles.

Dont get me wrong, this film is far more important to me than Lawrence of Arabia or Curse of Frankenstein! I just think its overpriced. Its not out for a while yet though so we shall see.
