I really hope its the DC.

I have the USA DC already but the UK DC is supposed to have slightly (very slightly) better PQ. The USA DC has the maximum movie mode though. Ive pre-ordered 2 anyway of course though. I probably wouldnt have at £17.99 - are you listening Warner?

Im sure I read somewhere that the Ultimate Cut transfer is compromised slightly because of its ridiculous running time? Actual movie all on one disc.

In an ideal world, Paramount would throw in both the Theatrical Cut and the Directors Cut discs that they've got but I doubt that'll happen.

Well, this steelbook will be released in October, so there is plenty of time for them to switch the disc. I don't think they've allready produced the steelbooks.

Watching ultimate now. Looks and sounds good to me. The experiment scene has just spiked to 62.3mps bitrate.

Now settling down to mid 20s. Audio running 2.8 mps

Transfers are compromised by Warner's incapacitiy and attitude towards encoding. Maybe Paramount never got the rights to release the ultimate cut.

From a PQ standpoint, the Paramount DC / TC blows away the Warner DC / TC which is filtered.

Yeah Warner's release is a little bit starved compared to Paramount's which has a much higher bitrate.

Avs have a pq tier thread.

Watchmen DC (UK) is in tier 0, which contains reference quality titles.
Watchmen TC (UK) is in tier 0, which contains reference quality titles.
Watchmen ultimate cut is in tier 1, just below tier 0.
Watchmen DC (US) is in tier 1.25, just below tier 1.

Watchmen DC (UK) is rated the best PQ transfer.

There is a separate screenshot thread at AVS discussing the PQ, especially the retention of high frequency details on the UK BD due to better encoding.

i have the usa directors cut, if the uk steelbook wont come with the dc im gonna pick it up just for the better pq
