Yet another delay - Pit and the Pendulum postponed until 9/30. Not sure what the problem is with these guys.

they reply via facebook

It looks like people have been getting emails from amazon saying that Castle freak has been delayed until October, we don't know why the dates have gone back that far. We told our distributor that we might be a little late for the 15/04 date as Stuart Gordon's interview is still being cut (was only finally shot this week) and we won't get it for another week or so. I think it's just a precaution. This will be out by June at the very, very latest but possible still in May. We'll come back with a confirmed date as soon as the extras are finished.

I checked with 88 Films to see if they had any update on the release dates for Pit and Freak, and this was their reply:

Quote:
Although Amazon says September we are working on them right now so as soon as they are ready they will be released.

Hopefully June/July!

Keep up to date via our Facebook page. We will announce the official release date and list of extras there in 1 or 2 weeks time!
Also, for the record, both are region-free.

So the Subspecies films have no issues playing in a U.S. player? I know they're region free, but they also don't have any PAL issues? I would much rather get the 88 Films versions of Subspecies instead of the Full Moon releases.

From 88 Films Facebook:NEWS FLASH!! Castle Freak Blu-ray will finally be released on 15/07/13. This date will appear on amazon etc shortly.

June at the latest huh? Yeah Stuart Gordon better admit to practicing the dark arts and sacrificing virgins in that interview for it to be worth it.

Amazon.uk recently changed the disc title to Castle Freak Feat: The Evil Clergyman [Blu-Ray] [1995]. What is this The Evil Clergyman feature?

Yeah getting delayed by almost a year is no big deal right?

I am trying to figure this out as well...anyone know? I have the Full Moon release of Subspecies 1 and the video is pretty awful. It has really distracting compression issues and some of the worst black crush I have ever seen. 88 films confirmed that they used the same master, but with better encoding it could still look much better. I want to order it but would hate to end up with another copy of the same video presentation.

Thanks beadelf for the lesson . Never heard about this short flick before. Great to know it will be included as an extra. It can't be bad because Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton, David Gale and David Warner are in it.

I haven't seen either release, but I purchased the 88 Films versions and should have them in sometime next week. From my understanding, both versions come from the same master, so they shouldn't look too different from each other, but 88 Films has theirs in 1080p where the Full Moon version is in 1080i. But I think the biggest difference is that the 88 Films version features grain where the Full Moon version doesn't. Of course, with the 88 Films version we get lossless audio.

exactly well worth the wait, better than getting a rushed disc without it.

Well assuming it's worth a damn. Movies shouldn't take almost a year to come out after they are announced, im old fashioned that way. I mean if getting delayed 9 months is a "rushed disc" then maybe they should examine how they operate. If the audio wasn't lossless I would get the Fullmoon version but of course Fullmoon only has DD.
