Peter Pan in February makes sense as a Diamond release. While all fall releases have been in October, early spring releases are less predictable. Bambi was a March 1 Diamond release, but Lady and the Tramp was a February 7 release. So Peter Pan on February 5 as a US Diamond Edition isn't a stretch. If it isn't Diamond then we net Peter Pan in February and Alladin would be March release assuming they retain their release sequence. Could simply be that Wal-Mart is getting a figurine along with it to pimp sales. It’s not like they can market something like this (below) for a movie targeted at males:

We don't know because from what anyone can tell, Wal-Fart jumped the gun, posted a release date for Peter Pan of Feb. 5 that no-one else has, used the wrong cover art and didn't give any real details. This has lead to the confusion seen in this thread which means we probably won't know anything official until Cinderella is out.

Someone will get their hands on a Cinderella in the next week or two and everything will be fine.

That someone is going to whine over the quality of the PQ, and if you're implying there's going to be an insert, well there wasn't one in the European version, so..
I really hope there's an insert though.

The PQ is fine, incredible actually. We took our daughter to see it in the theater two weeks ago. They explain at the start of the film that this is the fully restored film that will be released on Blu-Ray.

They were showing it here:

http://elcapitan.go.com/index.html

(For reference, anyone in the region, they show all the BD releases of the big Disney films here a month or two before they come out.)

It's across the street from the Dolby (formerly Kodak) Theater and Chinese Theater. Tickets are a bit pricy and sit behind the 5th row if you are on the lower level as the screens sits up on a stage. This theater is totally old school.

Have you followed the discussion on this forum at all?
The issue is not the PQ not looking "fine", in fact it looks neat. It's just that if compared to the older versions of the movie, it's severely miscolored and lacks humungous details.

Compared to what? A LD, DVD or VHS release that was taken from the best available version of fifth or sixth generation copy of a film vs. the original material? That's a boring conversation.

Any version, really. Even the old VHS has more detail and color.

Something completely impossible given the limitations of the format and the source used to generate the VHS version of the film in the first place.

As I said, boring (and I might add pointless) conversation.

This thread is getting very off topic so I'm just going to respond to this as little as possible, the film is restored, but it was restored incorrectly removing some of the animators lines in the movie, making it look like it was animated in MS Paint. Please refer to this thread for further info: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=204278

You can go frame by frame through every animated film ever made and find detail variances between frames that go unnoticed to the viewer. The comparisons being made in that thread (and others like it) are completely useless unless you have a frame for frame image - which they don't and an understanding of the source and how the image was produced.

Best post in that thread:

YCM was trying hide all the cel dust and cel scrawl in some of the older films by making the image very dark. Now, everyone thinks that's how the films looked decades ago, when the truth is different.

Of course, the modern digital restorations are different, also. I'm reminded of what Ollie Johnston said after seeing the 1993 digital restoration of Snow White. "Nice colors. Not the colors we used, but nice colors."

In other words, I tend to not get too upset about differences from VHS to laser or DVD or Blu for Walt-era films. None of them look like they did in theatrical release anyway -- Disney knows the titles are typically watched in living rooms with all the lights on, so the contrast can sometimes be higher versus the original theatrical presentations. They're also trying to compete with modern films, so the colors can be a bit -- what's the right word - surreal sometimes. Eventually it all comes down to preference (and maybe playing with your TV settings a bit).

Anyway...

So maybe we get Peter Pan in Februrary, maybe it's Diamond, maybe it's not. All because of Wal-Fart. Epic fail when you think about it...

Which is why I've disclaimered every post with "IF it comes out in February".

Many things could happen, but there's just something wrong with a world where Wal-Mart.com gets first information scoop.

Got that right. Heck, with Wal-Fart being global, it could just be for a European release that got put on the US site by a half asleep webmaster. Could be we won't see it in the US until February of 2014 ala Dumbo which the rest of the world had for over a year IIRC...

I'm a Disney Newbie... What's the difference between a "Diamond Edition" and a "Regular Edition"?

Now, it's nothing but a title.

But, when originally started, the Diamond Editions consisting of 2 BDs; the movie and (some) special features on Disc 1 and then Disc 2 crammed with more content.

Literally nothing separates them from "regular" releases now except the inclusion of a Digital Copy.

There were originally 10 titles in the line, but Disney keeps dropping/changing them, so we don't know what's going on.

I've seen enough to lead me to believe this WILL be released in February. I'm not sweating it either way, but I'm more than optimistic that it's being released, just not the stupid version in the Wal*Mart picture.

And the 14-16 month Limited-Time release. (As those latecomers still looking for stray copies of Pinocchio and Snow White at Best Buy will sadly attest. )
THAT, in Disney's official boardroom dictum, is the difference; the fans have only appended their own.
