It is noticeable, even to my untrained eye. But, I don't think it's that big of a difference. The only reason I bought it is because I don't watch my anime subbed.

Just bought this and watched it about a week ago. Wow, the transfer is pretty damn good. I've had this on VHS/DVD, but man, watching the blu-ray was like watching a totally new film. Loved it.
