That's interesting. I also hate people going on and on about a movie then when I watch it, after being resistant, their is mixed results. On The Dark Knight I felt so good. On Inception I felt it wasn't as amazing as people said.

I resisted Blade Runner for so long. I saw it on DVD. I still don't like it as much as people do, despite owning its awesome release.

When I was 10 I saw Jaws on the shelf in the blockbuster. It looked really old the VHS case itself looked different than those around it. I cant be 100% sure but I believe the art on the case drew me in, and I may have looked on the back and saw Steven Spielberg written, and though I didn't know the history behind the movie, I remember seeing his name from the beggining of Raiders which I'd seen like 5 times already since age 7 or 8. Not knowing what a director did, but getting how his title listed first meant something.

[Show spoiler]I just always figured renting Jaws or seeing it on TV was a right of passage for people who love movies. These times are way before the internet and I can't recall being in conversations about catalog movies - So I was never influenced like that. Mostly kids my age talked about what they were seeing at cinemas. So I discovered all these classics because I felt like I was the only one my age stumbling onto these gems after their time.

Felt like maybe only adults were renting Jaws into a highly worn state.

I don't get to the theaters very often unless its to see a summer blockbuster (ie.. Avengers, Amazing Spider-Man, TDKR) so a lot of mine were Blind Buys.
